Pet care experience
A calm home and genuine care
With me, your pup is never competing for attention. I provide exclusive, one-on-one care so they feel safe and at home. I’ve cared for dogs for over 12 years, including Italian Greyhounds, Dachshunds, Whippets, Chihuahuas, Poodles, Border Collies, and Terriers. My lifestyle is quiet and calm, which makes me especially attuned to sensitive, low-energy, and senior dogs who need a little extra understanding. My own dog, Clark, a whimsical and willful 12-year-old Poodle, recently passed from mitral valve disease which progressed to congestive heart failure. While this is sadly common in Poodles and other small breeds, it’s never enough time to say goodbye. Dogs will always be a part of my life, and I’d be honored to welcome yours into a calm and nurturing home. Through supporting Clark, I became deeply experienced in senior care- administering oral medications, monitoring for signs of distress, and creating a peaceful environment where he could feel safe and loved. I’m comfortable with medication management, light grooming (teeth brushing if tolerated, baths, and nail trims), and I keep essentials like pee pads, a litter box, and a playpen for dogs who are dual-trained or prefer enclosed rest. I also have a backpack carrier for pups under 15 lbs who like to come along on errands. I live near downtown Seattle, so I’m very vigilant during walks. I keep dogs on a close leash when needed, and for small dogs I’ll scoop them up if a large dog, bike, or scooter is approaching or when crossing busy streets. Safety is always my top priority. I’m typically home all day, and if I do step out, it’s never for more than 3–4 hours. I know the local emergency vets in Seattle and can quickly recognize signs of illness or stress. My goal is to provide attentive, reliable care that feels like an extension of your own love for your dog.

Excellent as always!

I couldn't be happier with the outstanding care my dog, Zion, received from Jalen! From the moment we met, I knew I had found the perfect person to entrust with my furry friend. Jalen went above and beyond in ensuring Zion's well-being and happiness. Every day, I received updates and photos that put my mind at ease, showing that Zion was not only well taken care of but also having a fantastic time. Jalen is not just a dog sitter but a true dog lover. I wholeheartedly recommend Jalen to anyone seeking top-notch, loving care for their four-legged family members. Thank you for being a fantastic dog sitter!!

The very first time I used Jalen ...after picking my dog up, I realized he no longer rushed out the door before me but waited for me to start walking first. Jalen had taught my dog some manners!

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
My apartment building is very secure. A fob is required on entry. The building is quiet and I like to keep a short leash upon entering and leaving.

A typical day
My routine is calm and consistent. I usually wake up between 8:30–9:30am, with the first feeding of the day around 9:30–10am followed by a brisk walk 30–60 minutes later. A second potty break in the early afternoon (1–3pm) and a final walk in the evening (8–9pm). I can adjust this schedule as needed, though my earliest start is 8:30am. A day starts with a nice walk through the Kobe Terrace Park. It’s a beautiful green space and small hiking trail in back of my apartment building. I often walk further to Yesler Terrace Park which has a large green space, not fenced so I keep dogs on leash. Afterwards is meal time with water, any grooming and hygiene, (teeth brushing, wipe downs, etc). I have tennis balls for fetch, My apartment is large enough for a small to medium sized dog to run. I offer kongs with frozen peanut butter and slow feeder puzzles, where pups will forage for treats or dry food within the mat. This offers great mental stimulation and I try to do this twice a day.
