Morning Routine: 7:00 AM – 1.5 Hour Walk through Prospect Park: Starting the day with a long walk is an excellent way to burn off excess energy while exposing the dog to new sights, smells, and sounds. The combination of leash walking and the long line for exploration is a smart way to practice recall and allow the dog a sense of freedom while still maintaining safety. 9:00 AM – Breakfast Time: Offering the meal in a crate is a great strategy for crate training and providing structure to the dog’s day. Some dogs are naturally inclined to enter the crate for food, while others may need some encouragement. Midday Rest Period: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Rest/nap time: After all the morning exercise, it’s normal for dogs to be tired and need rest. Having plenty of toys available allows for independent play if the dog isn’t ready to nap. If they seem restless we can integrate a chew or kong for mental stimulation. Afternoon Activities: 1:00 PM – 1.5 Hour Walk to Local Park (Fenced): A second walk is ideal for keeping up the energy levels and providing additional mental stimulation. The freedom of running off-leash (with a long line for safety) in a secure area is great for dogs to stretch their legs and engage in natural behaviors like chasing. The use of soccer and herding balls is a fun way to keep them active and engaged. Late Afternoon Playtime & Mental Stimulation: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM Its play time! This is where we do tons of mental stimulation. Snuggle mats, Kong's inside your crate, bully sticks and tug toys! Time to have fun and get that energy out! Evening Routine: Dinner Time 7:00 PM Like breakfast, feeding inside the crate or a set location reinforces routine and provides structure. Hand feeding adds a nice touch for positive reinforcement and encourages good eating habits in the crate. If not crate training then they will have a comfortable spot to eat freely and at their pace. 8:00 PM – Potty Break: The evening potty break is an essential part of the routine, ensuring your dog has a opportunity to relieve themselves after dinner and burn off any remaining energy. Night Routine: 10:30 PM – Last Potty Break & Bedtime Routine: A last bathroom break ensures a good night's sleep. We also will be washing all dog paws and moisturizing them along with brushing everyone's teeth before bed. Next, ensuring a comfortable space to sleep is important. All dogs will sleep in the crate where they’ll likely feel more secure and comfortable overnight. If not, providing a quiet, cozy spot with a bed or blanket is great for their rest.
