Before caring for a pet, I think it is really important to know their routine, personality, and any specific needs ahead of time. I would want to know their feeding schedule, walking routine, energy level, favorite activities, and anything that helps them feel comfortable. It is also helpful to know how they act around other dogs, new people, loud noises, or being left alone. For both dogs and cats, I would also want to know about any medications, health concerns, allergies, potty or litter box habits, and any behaviors the owner wants me to be aware of. I know every pet is different, so the more I understand ahead of time, the better I can make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for.

A typical day with the pets I watch would be centered around keeping them happy, comfortable, and on their normal routine. For dogs, that would usually include potty breaks, walks, feeding, fresh water, playtime, and lots of attention and affection. I would make sure they get the right balance of activity and rest depending on their age, energy level, and personality. For cats, I would make sure they are fed, have fresh water, a clean litter box, and attention on their terms, whether that means playtime, company, or just a calm presence nearby. For fun activities, I would tailor everything to the pet. With dogs, that could include walks, playtime with toys, fetch, lots of pets and cuddles, and time outside getting energy out. If they are more relaxed or older, I would keep things gentler and focus on comfort, companionship, and a slower pace. With cats, fun activities could include interactive toys, play sessions, brushing if they enjoy it, and cuddle time when they want affection. My goal is always to make pets feel safe, loved, entertained, and as stress-free as possible while their owner is away.
