My second dog Marvin was diagnosed with a liver shunt and complex health needs two years ago and I have cared for him during his surgery and healing, teaching me the importance of patience, gentle enrichment, and adapting walks to suit a dog’s emotional and physical wellbeing. These experiences shaped my passion for supporting senior dogs, nervous dogs, rescue dogs, and dogs who have experienced trauma. I understand how much they benefit from calm handling, predictable routines, and walks that allow them to feel safe and in control. I’ve also volunteered at Raystede Animal Welfare centre, which strengthened my commitment to compassionate, ethical care and deepened my understanding of how different dogs communicate stress, curiosity, and comfort.
