Loving home for your dog
I've had dogs since I was a child. My own dogs have been varied. Pekinese, Pointers, Shi-tzu and Collie. I have also looked after a Golden Doodle for a friend and a Cocker Spaniel for family. I have looked after young and old dogs and am used to giving dogs medication prescribed by the vet. I also used to look after/care for dogs, through Barking Mad, a dog care company whose franchise has now expired in the Newark area.

I spent countless hours searching for someone with real experience handling working dogs, as we have a Border Collie, and it was so important to find the right fit. From the moment I met Dorothy at our meet and greet, I knew she was the one. Enzo absolutely fell in love with her and had such an amazing time during his doggy day care stay. I was looking for a true “home away from home” for him, and that’s exactly what Dorothy provides. She is incredibly knowledgeable, gentle, and patient—her experience really shines through in the way she cares for the dogs. I honestly couldn’t be happier and feel so reassured knowing Enzo is in such great hands.

Dorothy has owned and cared for dogs her whole life, growing up around family dogs and becoming a dog owner herself as soon as she could! She has a really natural way with animals and forms strong, trusting bonds with them very quickly. Dorothy treats every dog as if it were her own, giving them lots of love, patience, and genuine 1:1 attention. She has great experience with anxious dogs and those who need a bit of extra understanding, skills she developed further while working for Barking Mad. Dorothy regularly cared for my Cocker Spaniel and always followed my instructions carefully and thoughtfully, which was so important given his anxiety and behavioural quirks. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dot as a kind, reliable, and trustworthy dog sitter on Rover.

Schedule
I am retired..so available all the time. I like to walk in various locations. Woods, lakes ect. I do have a social life too, so would occasionally need to leave your pet for a couple of hours.

Safety, trust & environment
I have a fairly large fenced in garden. I do have a small pond which is near the house. Therefore easy to supervise your dog. I can also shut the pond off from some of the garden if necessary. Dogs can wander freely around my house, no restrictions
A typical day
I am able to walk your dog round a lake, woods and parks. I can throw the ball for your dog and play with it. Whatever activity your dog enjoys and makes them happy.
