Pet care experience

Have a true passion for animals

I have had various pets throughout my life. The last animal I had was a Labrador who was my retired assistance dog. I was in a wheelchair for many years and I went through the process of getting an assistant dog. This consisted of going on many training sessions and completing many courses including first aid, moving and handling, oral hygiene, recall training, grooming and shampooing, behaviour training, lead training. I passed all required courses and Neon was with me for over 10 years. I am no longer in a wheelchair and when Neon retired he remains with me. Unfortunately Neon passed away on the 24th of July 2026. The vets found that he had a very aggressive form of cancer that had metastasised through his body and there was nothing more that they could do. He passed away in my arms knowing he was loved. I also volunteer for the RSPCA and have gone through their vigorous training program. I enjoy working with all types of animals but dogs have a special place in my heart. I am adept at giving medication and am happy to adapt to any dog's specific needs. I am home all day so their needs will be my priority.

Christian is my brother, and I can honestly say that his love for animals has been a constant in his life for as long as I can remember. As children, we always had pets—our parents initially started with fish and rabbits, then gradually moved on to hamsters and cats. Christian loved them all, but he was so determined to have a dog. He would constantly pester my parents, who kept resisting because they wanted him to understand that dogs require more responsibility than any other pet we had. One Christmas, our parents asked us to write letters to Santa about what we wanted as a gift for being well-behaved. I asked for a BMX bike, but Christian begged Santa for a real dog. That heartfelt plea must have touched my parents’ hearts because they finally gave in and got him a dog. Christian has been devoted to dogs—and all animals—ever since. I used to tease him, saying he got along better with animals than with people. He would spend all his free time with his dog, even when everyone else was out meeting friends or trying to impress girls. Throughout his life, Christian has always cared for pets, even during times when circumstances prevented him from having a dog himself. He would still house-sit and walk dogs for friends and family because he genuinely loves animals. Christian's patience and empathy are qualities I deeply admire. I would trust him with anyone’s pet, knowing he would treat them with the utmost kindness and care. Though he might look tough with tattoos, he’s a big softy at heart—someone with an enormous capacity for love and compassion.

Safety, trust & environment

I live alone and have a ground-floor flat with a fenced-in back garden. I will be home at all times unless I am out walking and playing with your furry friend. My flat is dog-friendly and I have a huge corner sofa that dogs are always allowed to climb up on and snuggle. I also have a few dog beds if they want their own space to chill.

A typical day

I’d keep your pet both physically and mentally stimulated. We’d be playing hide and seek with treats or using special toys that your dog needs to work out how to get to the treat inside. I live right beside Finsbury Park so when we’re not in my garden or inside, we’d be out taking a stroll in the park. Then by the evening hopefully your dog will be wanting nothing more than to relax on the sofa with me or in one of my comfy dog beds to recover from a full day of entertainment.

It would be great if you’d let me know if your pet needs any special care. That could be anything from medical conditions like medication or allergies. If your pet has any behavioural problems or is in the middle of any kind of training then I’m more than willing to assist in doing that while they are with me. The more information you can give me about your pet the better I can give them the quality of care they deserve. Never feel guilty for wanting the best for your furry friend.
