Safety, trust & environment
I live in a single family home that I own. The house is kept clean and because of my pet history I keep things off the floor and food safe from pets. There’s a nice yard but no fence. I have my three boys staying here every other week/end. They're animal lovers too, but in case separation is needed, my bedroom or the finished basement can be used to contain a pet when the kids are around. For pet sitting and dog walking, I have a leash and a fanny pack. As a runner, it's a joy to take energetic dogs on the trail. For runs & walks, I use my own private access to the little gunpowder falls river woods with a long walkable waterfall, the local NCR trail, or the cemetery across the street (1/4mi laps).

Of course, please let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors to watch for or manage. Nothing is too small not to mention! Thank you!
A typical day
I take walks. Without a fenced yard I tend to keep physical activity indoors and on walks/runs. I don’t take dogs outside without a leash. Dogs are allowed on the bed and couch.

Pet care experience
As a child and teen, I helped my mom breed, raise, and train golden retrievers. As an adult and family man, I cared for my dog "Beyoncé" and cat "Kitty." This includes food, water, play, running, brushing, brushing teeth, and trimming. My pets have passed on and I’m ready to host 😊 Im a dad of 3 boys with shared custody. I enjoy the rural setting, and keep chickens and ducks, and garden. I’m a civil engineer / environmental consultant and work at home 100%. I have a lot of flexibility with taking breaks. Experienced with using a clicker to train, and using a beep / vibrate collar for training highly spirited dogs (in combination with positive reinforcement, always).

Reviews

Chris provided a wonderful home environment for my anxious pup and checked in frequently with updates and pics. Chris is gentle, calm and laid back, which worked well with my dog. When there were difficulties, such as getting my dog to sleep in his crate the first night, Chris was flexible and adaptable, which I greatly appreciated. I was able to enjoy my vacation with no worries. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog in Chris’ capable hands and would call on him again to pet sit.
Chris was so wonderful with my two pups! He sent me tons of photos and updates about what they were up to while I was away, and even sent photos of him running with them (they are both very high energy and love a good run!). He was always super attentive, and they absolutely loved cuddling with him - he's a total natural with dogs and such a dog lover, I would have him watch my dogs absolutely any time. Can't wait to have him back, and I'm sure the dogs can't wait either!
Chris has been around dogs his entire life and was quite helpful and responsible with my dog breeding program. He is kind and conscientious in caring for dogs which includes a watchful and timely eye on your pups needs. Chris was also instrumental in dog training our pups. I would highly recommend Chris as your pup's caregiver while you are away.
