I recently retired after 31 years of teaching Special Education students. I would like to change my subjects and work with the 4 legged type for a while. I grew up out in the country down in South Texas. We had dogs, cats, horses, cows, and an occasional wild bunny. One summer in high school, I worked at a veterinary office. I helped with everything from surgical prep to surgeries on dogs, cats and horses.I was even successful at nursing one puppy back to health through Parvo with subcutaneous fluids and antibiotics. At home, I have a 17 yr old Shih Tzu, a almost 5 yr old Golden Retriever and a 2 yr old Doodle. Due to all the energy and unpredictability, I will not be able to keep pets at my home. In the future, I hope to be able to have overnight guests and daycare as well. While raising two boy, we owned many pets. We had 3 hamsters, a chinchilla, a few cats and 5 dogs, including our current ones. I can’t even imagine a home without pets. We were even able to raise and nurture a few wild bunnies. Now in my retirement I would like to relax and enjoy the company of our four-legged friends.
