Pet care experience

Passionate Wildlife Specialist

Animals have always been at the center of my life. I grew up caring for my childhood German Shepherd, taking responsibility for feeding, walking, grooming, and of course, giving lots of love. Since 2020, I’ve been the proud dog mom to Bella, my sweet lab mix and 8-month old Golden Retriever Teddy. Over the years, I’ve also cared for cats, and I routinely watch my coworkers’ dogs when they are on vacation. My day job is at a national wildlife refuge, where I work hands-on with endangered Attwater’s prairie-chickens. My prior experience as an intern on the island of Kaua‘i taught me how to administer fluids and injections into wild bird species for wildlife rehabilitation. Also during this time I pet sit my roommate’s two cats. And, at one point a few baby Muscovy ducks! My personal and professional experience has cumulatively taught me patience, attention to detail, and how to meet the needs of a wide variety of animals with care and compassion. With experience ranging from high-energy pups to calm companions, I understand that every pet has their own unique needs and personality. Whether it’s walks, playtime, snuggles, or keeping up with daily routines, I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. You can trust that your furry friend will be safe, loved, and well cared for while they’re with me.

I am delighted to recommend Ashlyn Jaide Cooper for a position at Rover. Com. Jaide consistently demonstrates a deep love of animals, a strong sense of responsibility, and an intuitive understanding of pet care. Whether it's walking energetic dogs, caring for elderly cats, or managing feeding schedules and medications, Jaide handles every task with patience and precision. Pets naturally gravitate towards her and it is easy to see why--Jaide treats every animal with kindness , respect and genuine affection.

Ashlyn, Ashlyn loves animals, she a is a sweet, reliable, caring young woman. I don't have a pet at this time, but if I did would have no qualms trusting her with my pet. She would be an asset to Rover. Thanks for your time, Mary Skyba

I've known Ashlyn for almost 10 years; she is an incredibly capable and compassionate person who loves animals deeply. I don't know anyone able to make an immediate connection with animals better than her. Over time I have seen her take great care if her two dogs as well as her family and friend's pets. She has also spent her professional life working and caring for animals in a number of positions and makes the most out of every moment of it. Ashlyn takes pride in her work and is someone whom you can form and maintain a great relationship with both professionally and personally. There is no one I would trust more to take care of a pet than her. She would be a wonderful candidate that I'm sure anyone would greatly enjoy working with as a pet sitter.

Safety, trust & environment

I have an extra large doggy door that allows my dog to come in and out as she pleases. Any pets that would be boarded overnight at my house would have the same luxury as well! My lab-mix Bella is the kindest dog you’ll ever meet. I fostered a boxer for my coworker and they were two peas in a pod when he was with us. Bella gets along very well with others! Especially cats, for whatever reason. I also have a very friendly and playful Golden Retriever named Teddy. He and Bella are best buds. Teddy stays in a guest bedroom during the day since he is still a puppy. I have a fenced backyard with shade and grass. My house is a 3 bed, 2 bath 1600sq ft. There is plenty of room to lounge and toys to play with. I feed my dogs twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening right after our evening walk.

Pets

A typical day

Play is just as important as walks. Dogs require mental stimulation throughout the day. That’s why I prioritize play in any way I can. With dogs who are playful, I’d make sure I integrate about 30mins to an hour of play every day they are with me! That includes playing with their favorite toy(s) and playing chase around the yard.

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs, interests, or requirements. This includes special feeding requirements, treats can or cannot be given (diet restrictions), potty instructions, play instructions, scared of certain items or weather, etc. I’ll do my very best to accommodate them. My dog Bella recently had bilateral TPLO (double knee) surgery and I have learned quite a bit from that experience caring for special needs.
