About: Hi, I’m Simona! I’m a caring, responsible and reliable pet lover based in Portlaoise. I know how difficult it can be to leave your pets when you’re away, whether you’re going on holiday, working long hours or simply need a little extra help. My aim is to make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I am happy to care for both cats and dogs and understand that every pet has their own personality, routine and needs. Some pets are energetic and playful, while others are shy and prefer a little more space. I always take the time to get to know each pet and follow the routine that makes them feel most comfortable. For cats, I can provide feeding, fresh water, litter tray cleaning, playtime, cuddles and companionship. For dogs, I can provide walks, feeding, fresh water, playtime, toilet breaks and plenty of attention and affection. I will always follow your instructions carefully and keep you updated during visits with messages and photos, so you can relax knowing your pet is doing well. I have a flexible schedule and am available throughout the week. I’m also happy to arrange a Meet & Greet before the first booking so we can meet, discuss your pet’s routine and make sure you feel completely comfortable with me. Your pet’s safety, happiness and wellbeing will always be my priority. ❤️🐾 I am currently a student, so I have a flexible daily and weekly schedule with plenty of time available for pet care. I can arrange visits around each pet’s individual routine and give them the time, attention and care they need. My flexible schedule also means I can be available during weekdays, weekends and holidays, depending on the booking. I’m reliable, organised and happy to work around each owner’s preferred feeding, playtime and care routine. I care for every pet with patience, kindness and plenty of attention. When visiting a pet owner’s home, I follow their usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding, fresh water, playtime, cuddles and cleaning litter trays when needed. I understand that cats can feel nervous when their owners are away, so I give them time to feel comfortable and never force interaction. I also make sure their home is left clean and secure after every visit. Most importantly, I treat every pet as if they were my own and keep owners updated with messages and photos so they can feel reassured while they are away. 🐱❤️

About: I grew up around dogs and have been minding pets for family, friends and neighbours for years, everything from energetic pups who need long walks to older dogs who just want company. I’m reliable, I send plenty of photo updates, and I treat every pet like my own. I have my own car and a flexible schedule, so I can work around whatever routine suits your dog best. I work retail on a shift basis, so my free time varies week to week but I always know my rota in advance. Early mornings, evenings and days off are all workable I do visits and walks in your pet’s own home, where they’re most comfortable. I always follow your instructions exactly, whether that’s feeding amounts, medication, or which door needs double-locking on the way out. Dogs stay on the lead unless you’ve told me otherwise and there’s a secure space, and I’ll never let a cat out unless that’s their normal routine. I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos during every visit.

About: I’m 20 years old and I have grown up surrounded by waggy tails and muddy paws! Dogs are my whole world. I’ve had breeds that range from Pyrenees Mountain Dogs to Terriers. Caring for dogs isn’t just something I do, it’s who I am. I understand that every dog is different. Some are full of zoomies and love to play all day, while others prefer gentle walks, quiet cuddles, and feeling safe. I take the time to get to know each dog’s personality so they feel comfortable, happy, and completely at home. Your dog will never be treated like “just another dog.” They’ll be treated like family — with plenty of love, attention, playtime, and snuggles along the way. You can relax knowing your best friend is in safe and genuinely caring hands. I’m working part-time where my hours can be varied but very flexible. I’m more than happy to work around your schedule and preferences. If the owner has an open land that is not fenced in, I will bring the dog outside for bathroom breaks while holding them on a lead, ensuring they won’t run off. I will play with them and their favourite toys. I will take them on walks however long or short!

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Portlaoise

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Pet Sitting in Portlaoise on Rover is {{median_grand_total_num.as_currency}} per Visit (as of {{date}}). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Pet Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Pet Sitting.

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialise in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your Eircode to find a sitter within walking distance in your neighbourhood.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or toilet breaks occurred, for doggy day care, home visits, and dog walking services. You can also message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available by email or chat if you have concerns.

Of course! Many sitters on Rover are experienced in caring for multiple pets simultaneously, whether you have a pack of dogs, a clowder of cats, or a mix of both.

Look for sitters who highlight multi-pet expertise or check for verified reviews from other Portlaoise pet parents with similar pet households.

Every sitter must complete an identity verification process before listing their services on Rover. This process checks that the sitter’s identity matches their provided documents.

Identity verification doesn't assess a sitter’s experience or suitability for your pet. To see if a sitter is the right fit, you can review each sitter's profile for ratings, verified reviews, repeat pet owner information and care style. We also recommend arranging a Meet & Greet to discuss your pet’s needs and make sure the sitter is the right fit before booking.

For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Portlaoise choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into your regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who've never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover, but you're welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you've previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you're booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you'll have a chance to go through your pet's routine, medical needs and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. A Meet & Greet is a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When contacting your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
