answered a question Owner wants to talk about cost at meet & greet (Holiday Rates)?

They actually don't see a total cost until after they send the booking request, so she probably wrote that when she sent the request. Your prices are laid out on your profile, of course, but it's like going to the grocery store. She picked multiple days and multiple pets, and hasn't walked up to the cashier yet and is trying to get an idea how much her cart will be.

Anyway, I looked at your profile and over $700 seems extremely high for the prices you've listed. When I calc'd it out I got a total of $474 for the 7 days (2 of which are holiday).

$30 (first pet) +20 (2&3rd pet) +12 (cat) =$62 x 5 =$310

$50 (holiday-first pet) +20 (2&3rd pet) +12 (cat) =$82 x 2 =$164

$310+164=$474 grand total.

Hope that helps!

answered a question I filled out the survey information for Rover upon completion of watching my first dog regarding how the dog behaved, etc. and hit "submit" , but nothing happened. How do I know if Rover received that information?

It's been glitchy lately. If you go back to your inbox and back into the sitting and it says 'review your stay' then it wasn't submitted. If it doesn't say that and you see stars instead then it was successfully sent :)

answered a question Does the price I see on each sitters page for each individual dog even if house sitting?

Most sitters have an additional dog rate that is different from the base (single pet) rate. If you click on Additional Rates & Services, you can see the pricing for additional pets.

answered a question How can I change the rating of my sitter? I just noticed that I accidentally gave him 4 stars instead of 5?

Thank you for catching that! :) Please contact support @ [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team] and let them know so they can fix it.

commented answer Is "response time" calculated only on initial requests, or does EVERY communication affect it?

You are correct, its the initial message :)

answered a question (Please read, not as ridiculous as it sounds) How do you ask a question on Q&A community?

As far as I've been able to find there is no link to the community from the app. Instead I used the browser on my phone and logged into Rover, then followed the link at the bottom to the community and bookmarked it so I can get back to it if I need to. Hope this helps.

answered a question Why am I not appearing as an available sitter when my mom searches on her Rover account?

Sitter search defaults to looking for those offering boarding service, which you don't offer. It possible your mother didn't realize this and didn't search for you under the services you offer.

answered a question Brand spankin new sitter and I have some questions that I can't seem to find anywhere?

Drop in's are pretty easy, I'm not sure what she was expecting from you. You show up, start the card, access the property, take care of the animal(s) (perhaps going on a walk or letting them into the backyard to potty), refresh water and give them food if it's meal time, play with the pet, secure the animal(s) and building when you leave, and stop the card. Anything extra required should have been made clear from the client (including taking out trash, checking the mail, giving medications, etc).

answered a question Should I let my puppy in my bed in the morning?

I recommend coffee. Seriously though, no matter how cute your puppy is, he's definitely not cute enough for you to be fired and not be able to feed him or pay your rent. Set an alarm for the other side of the room and once you are up don't get back into the bed.

answered a question What happens if I don’t do all Rover Cards?

I open and close the unneeded card so it's off my log for the day, but like the other said, there's no real reason you need to.

answered a question What would you charge per night?

Well for me my base rate is $40, then 5 for each extra dog, so dogs alone would be $55. The cats I'd probably be ok doing for another $20 a night, depending on how the meet and greet went, so I think I'd be comfortable with $75 a night for everyone.

Like Karen said, look around your market area and see what others are likely to charge. No matter what, go with a price that you are comfortable with.

commented answer How do I add Canine Clients to my profile?

You might have the option toggled off on your sitter settings. Go to settings then the last option is Sitter, and the last toggle says Hide Photos https://www.rover.com/account/profile/settings/?ref=header

answered a question What to do about misleading reviews?

If you have any other clients I would ask them to write a review for you that way it's not the first one shown. If not, then ask people that know you to complete testimonials for your profile will help as well.

answered a question How long is the background check process?

Normal background check timeframe is 7-10 business days. I think mine took about a week but someone else said their was done next day.

answered a question I am in the process of getting business cards. I don’t want to put phone number or address. What info should I use instead so they can contact me?

I would use your rover sitter link, that way new clients can go right to your profile and book with you.

answered a question Do I need an EAD to become a pet sitter on Rover?

I don't think so, as long as your SSN is valid you should be good. However I recommend calling rover directly since they'll know more [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. answered a question Proof of rabies shots for the sitter?

Not Rover. If you require proof of rabies vaccinations you (as a sitter) would need to get that information from the owner.

commented question Did raising your rates hurt your bookings?

When I get a client I save them into my phone under their name. If I get a request from someone and they already have a name assigned in my phone I know theyre a repeat.

answered a question How do I schedule less than 2 visits per day?

Hi Tina, that option is only available on the browser version of rover (not the app) and not in all areas. If you don't have that option then select 2 visits per day on the request, and let them know that you only need one visit for the first day and last day, and what the total # of visits you are looking for. Your sitter will adjust the cost for you so you only get billed for the visits you need. Hope that helps! :)

answered a question Do you take back up contact info?

Yes. I ask for direct phone numbers and emergency contacts. I do drops and house sittings.

commented answer Dog abused me during a house stay, can i be compensated?

Just the facts ma'am

answered a question Has anyone else gotten false requests for dog walking?

Like Walt said, its a scam, not a threat. They want your money and don't care if you're a man or a woman.

answered a question What to do if owner wants shorter walk?

I've had clients that were fine with a less than 30min visit, as long their pets got to potty and I checked their water bowls they were fine with me leaving early. I wouldn't offer to discount it unless they ask for one, mainly because whether it's 30 mins or 5 minutes or 3 hours, you're still spending the same amount of time to get to their house and back.

answered a question Why doesn't Rover have time included in requests?

Well they're trying that out in certain areas, you so may see it pop up here and there. As far as I am aware it's only available if someone goes thru the browser and not the app. I personally don't use the Rover calendar and just use the google one.

answered a question Why does my customer have to confirm the booking request that they put in, after I accept it?

I'm sorry you prefer DogVacay, but it's rude of you to continually demean Rover in every post you make asking for information.

As for your question, if you search the board you'll find posts asking this and providing answers. To put it simply, its to make sure both parties are aware of the booking and agree to it. When you click to confirm it, the owner has to submit the fee before it's fully booked. If the owner submits the fee you have to agree to receive it and commit to the booking.

answered a question Has anyone had a problem with hackers through the rover app?

Doesn't seem like a hack, its just a bug in the way the Rover system works. When you get a booking request and its not archived it will show in your calendar as [U] (unbooked). Sounds like Rover deleted/hid the request when they deactivated the senders profile but it's still a ghost in the system since it was never archived.

answered a question why haven't i gotten any calls?

A lot of sitters wait months to get their first booking. Hang in there :)

answered a question Why do my customers always ask for my address even after booking?

Rover doesn't really look at this board so if you'd like to make a suggestion you should call customer service. [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team]

answered a question How do I turn off text notifications?

Go into your settings and go to Notifications, then toggle the switch to off under receiving a text.

answered a question Why can't I change my phone #????????????

Call Customer service and they should be able to help you out: [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team]

answered a question How do I add my link to my Yelp business profile?

Will it let you add a tiny url instead?

Looks like your tiny url would be: https://tinyurl.com/ya7l2dyt

answered a question What are the guidelines for house sitting?

House sitting is for 24 hours, but that will change from sitter to sitter. Always confirm with your client what they are expecting and be realistic and honest in what you are able to provide and you'll be fine :)

commented question What do I do about an untrained dog that I can't board anymore?

Thanks for the update Alize :)

answered a question Rover Card Not Always Available?

Sometimes it doesn't connect to the server properly and show the Cards available to start. I've noticed it a lot more on the most recent update. If refreshing doesn't work I go into my mailbox and upcoming, then into the booking thread and click 'start' at the top. That sort of forces a refresh and lets me start a Rover card.
