commented question For home stays, how to I handle food the the sitter I hire? Do I leave them $, a fixed amount per day?

Excuse me Barbara but are you talking about food for the sitter or food for the dog? If it's food for the dog then leave whatever remaining food you have left and the sitter can pick some up for you and bring a receipt so you can pay them back. If it's about what the sitters eat then I am unsure

commented answer How are you advertising your services?

Hey Amber I had a similar situation as Kelly, did you have to get approved by your city to leave them at the poop bag stations also in the parks and trails? How did you go about getting approval if so?

answered a question Why do chows have purple tongues?

According to some research on the AKC and various other websites, I found that any breed not only chows can have these "purple" tongues and or "spots". This is due to the pigments in their tongue that have developed with a blackish tint, however, years of breeding in the Chow Chow have caused them to have distinctive blue-black tongues. Also I would recommend doing some research on pigmentation as to understand the science behind it.

Hope this helps! Have a great Friday!

answered a question How long does it take to be approved as a pet sitter? How do you find out if you've been approved?

Hi Kathy,

Just checking in to see if you have been approved yet. Personally, I signed up for the Dog Walking and Drop-In visits services and it was a fast and easy experience getting it verified and checked out. The background check took about a day, and the review by Rover took about 24 hours as well. They will let you know via email once your profile is live.

Hope this helps,

Douglas Q

answered a question Are pet sitters have background checks?

Hello Cheryl,

That is an excellent question! If my answer does not suffice please contact Rover Support directly by phone [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team] or email support@rover.com. Some sitters and walkers have chosen to purchase the Rover package to be bonded and insured but all stays with Rover.com are insured regardless. In addition background checks are required to have your profile accepted as a Rover.com sitter or walker. Also to verify the different qualifications a certain sitter has visit their profile page, scroll down and on the left hand side it will display their years of experience, if they passed a background check and more. Good luck and enjoy the convenience of Rover.

Thanks, Douglas Q

commented answer How do I delete a pet from my profile?

Indeed and make sure that you are on the website when doing this and it should work!

answered a question How do I get the "Available On Valentines Day" banner on my profile?

Greetings Renee,

I would recommend checking the calendar to see when Valentine's weekend is and then go to your calendar either on your app or website and update your availability to just cover that weekend. If this doesn't work try contacting Rover support to see if they can change it for you!

asked a question What Is The Treat System?

Hello again Rover Community,

I have a quick question regarding the treat system on our Q & A forums. What exactly do they represent and what is their significance? In addition how to gain more if they are indeed of importance?

Thanks, Douglas Q.

Dodie,

This sounds like an issue directly with Rover. Have you had your first client yet? That could also be a problem. Be sure to contact rover support to make sure your profile is back up and running as this could affect your business from growing. Hope your profile is back soon!

Good Luck!

commented question Summer is coming up, how to prevent blisters on dogs paws?

Greetings Kelvin, I would recommend Petroleum Jelly for a home remedy for daily usage to provide moisture to the bottoms of their pads so they do not burn. If they already have blisters do not apply and seek medical advice. Let me know how it works, Douglas Q.

asked a question How to get your first client?

Hello Rover Community,

My name is Douglas and I live in Southern California and recently joined Rover upon a recommendation by a family member. I have three years of experience working with dogs and many different types of animals in retail, medical, and service environments. Now that I am pursuing my education in veterinary medicine, specifically to become a RVT, I need a part-time to full time job and love walking dogs and have a year of experience volunteering at my local animal shelter. Please feel free to check out my profile (https://www.rover.com/sit/dougsdogwalking (https://www.rover.com/sit/dougsdogwal...) ) for more information about me. Also if you could offer any tips as to how I can improve it or make it more appealing and easy for Pet Parents it would be much appreciated. Now that I have set up my profile and ordered some business cards I would like to know how you got your first client and what you did to take steps to get your name out there. How did you advertise? What was your first meet and greet like?

Thanks and looking forward to hearing your answers,

Douglas Quinn
