I'm curious why they have purple tongues or purple spots
According to some research on the AKC and various other websites, I found that any breed not only chows can have these "purple" tongues and or "spots". This is due to the pigments in their tongue that have developed with a blackish tint, however, years of breeding in the Chow Chow have caused them to have distinctive blue-black tongues. Also I would recommend doing some research on pigmentation as to understand the science behind it.
Hope this helps! Have a great Friday!
Awesome info! thanks Douglas.
After looking online, it looks like it's all just a big mystery!
That is because the chows are natural breeds.
