answered a question is there someone I can speak to about my hacked account?

It sounds like you might have a second account. The email I received said that other sites had been breached and the password reset was just a security precaution, not that my account had been hacked. You should call Rover's support, their number is [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. answered a question I can't book my client because it says they haven't added their address?

Have them confirm the booking on their end, it should pop-up saying to add their address before they can pay. If they are still having trouble, they should contact Rover support at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. answered a question Does Rover screan their sitters?

You should always screen any caregiver or provider you are wanting to work with just as a best practice. Rover does a background check and reviews the sitter's profile when they are submitted but it is ultimately up to the pet owner to interview and screen the sitter that they want to work with.

answered a question Why is Rover asking for a lesser amount of Money than I posted?

When looking at the price, does it say "Holiday Rate" or "Extended Stay Rate"? The site is most likely going with a different rate than your usual rate. Those rates do not automatically update when you update your standard rate, so if you had a holiday rate set before when you had a lower standard rate and you increased your standard rate, the holiday rate will stay the same. Definitely call Rover like Deb mentioned above, but it is always helpful to look at what rate is being charged when you aren't sure about the amount.

answered a question Does a repeat booking have to go through Rover?

Yes, all clients found through Rover must be booked through Rover for the lifetime of the relationship. That and your profile will get a boost for every client that rebooks with you on the site, so rebooking will help you in the search results too!

answered a question Do you as a sitter ask if a client has cameras in their home?

Rover's Blog article that goes over questions to ask on a M&G suggest asking if they have a camera, so I think it is becoming more common for people to ask. Especially since most states do not require homeowners to disclose their cameras (unless there is also audio recording since most states make it required for everyone to be aware of that), and people just want to make sure they are doing everything right. I ask for a few reasons, 1) I am pretty animated when I talk to doggos and I don't want to do anything that could be misinterpreted as yelling or being crazy. and 2) For my protection: I've heard of sitters being accused by owners for stealing when they took nothing and I would be more comfortable providing care in a home where there are cameras because I know I will be more protected from false accusations.

answered a question how do i initiate a booking for a repeat customer?

If you are working on the app, there is a Rebook section where you can find your client and send a request. If you are working on a computer, you would want to go to your Inbox and then click on the "Past Clients" button and you can find your client on that list and send them a request that way.

answered a question I live in a home that has pets, Would I need to include this in "my dogs" section?

If there is a chance that the dogs you are caring for would have interaction with those dogs, I would list them and you can include in the description that they are not yours but are in the home. If they are kinda like having a next door neighbor with dogs, then I might just write a little info about it in your About Me. Some pet owners are looking for sitters that won't have any other dogs because their dog doesn't get along with or do well with other dogs and sometimes it can be a nasty shock if they come over for a Meet & Greet or drop off and there are dogs there that they weren't expecting.

answered a question Where is my $20 after my friend signed and used Rover.?

The "Get $20" portion of the Give $20, Get $20 is sent out after your referral completes their first booking. If that has already happened and it has been a few days and you still haven't seen an email with a code or anything, you should call Rover's support. Their number is [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team].

answered a question What do I do if the sitter lied about having a dog and said dog attacked mine?

You should call Rover's emergency team, they should be able to go over the options and make sure that the sitter is followed up with. I am so sorry to hear about your dog and I hope everything is ok now! The emergency number is 888-727-1140.

answered a question Marking myself as away - will I not receive messages?

Any requests that are sent through when you are "Away" will not impact your booking rate or response rate either.

answered a question Can you transport Dogs when you are a walker?

You can transport dogs if you have the owners consent. There are some sitters that go to dog parks with their client's dogs but it is agreed upon in advance.

The Rover Guarantee would not cover any damages to the car if there is an accident.

answered a question Can you give a review for drop-in visits?

You can review your sitter for every service on Rover. The booking does have to be over and the review button becomes available the day after the care ended. If you aren't seeing it, definitely call Rover's support at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. answered a question Will Rover withhold income tax?

No. You are an independent contractor, so no income taxes are withheld. You report your income via a 1099 and the gov't will let you know how much you owe. You might also want to reach out to a CPA or Tax person to see what the requirements are for reporting that income, I think some places have a minimum that if not met, might not have to be reported but i am not a tax expert so definitely check into it.

answered a question I am trying to schedule a meet & greet, and I am not getting an option on line. Also, am I allowed to conduct interviews with more than one sitter?

There is not a button to schedule a Meet & Greet, it would just be you and the sitter discussing when you would like to have a Meet & Greet. You can definitely interview more than one sitter at a time! The dates are just required when sending a request through, and this is because you don't want to go through all of the effort of finding a sitter and interviewing them and then finding out that they aren't available for the dates you actually need care.

answered a question I don't want to be pet sitter because i want to be dog walker?

It is called a "Sitter profile" but you have the option to select the specific services you want to offer. Once you get through the initial account set up with your name and number, you'll get to a page where you pick services and you can just select walking without having to choose any other services.

answered a question What is the service fee?

You can also always click on the Book It Now button and it will bring you to a page where you will see the service fee added on. There is another button or two to actually confirm payment, so just by clicking Book It Now does not mean you are necessarily booking or paying.

answered a question what does cat care consist of?

Cat care means that you would offer that service for a cat. Sometimes that means refilling their food or water bowls, cleaning out the litter box, or letting an outdoor cat inside or out. It is dependent on the owner's request but that is what it usually entails. Putting a value in for the Cat Care rate will mean that you are shown in the search results for pet parents that have a cat on their account or check the filter box for Cat Care.

answered a question Client wants to add an additional dog after a booking?

You can let her know that your fees are set due to the amount of work you are doing and the rate does have to be paid. You can also phrase it that you HAVE to book the additional dog on its own request so the Rover insurance covers the additional dog. Just let her know that the request will initially show the standard rate but you will update it to be the additional dog rate.

If she wanted to pay $30 for both dogs, she should have brought it up with the initial boarding or go with her old option. You do not have to change your rates to fit another sitter's rate or facility. It is your business and she chose you to work with.

answered a question How do I schedule a meet and greet with the sitter before choosing to schedule a walk?

Unfortunately there isn't an option to just schedule a Meet & Greet but most sitters understand an owner would want a Meet & Greet before booking. You can always send the request through for the walk and then ask them when they would be able to schedule a Meet & Greet in the initial message and that at least sets you up so the sitter understands where you are coming from.

commented answer How to handle owners who don't acknowledge problem dogs?

Oh bummer! I would get back to them at the end of the booking and let them know you don't feel comfortable having him for daycare if he has to stay in the crate all day since it isn't fair to the dog. The client should be happy that you are looking out for dog's best interests.

answered a question How to handle owners who don't acknowledge problem dogs?

Yeesh, marking can definitely be tough. Sometimes the pet parent might not realize that they may have trained the dog out of marking at their own home but marking is a territorial behavior, so new territory means new training. There is some good spray out there that can help but it isn't a solution, only a band-aid.

If you want to keep the dog, you could always ask if they would let you use belly bands while the dog is in your home and that way he is able to roam and your furniture is saved. Or, if you don't want to keep the dog, you can appeal to their dog-parent nature and say you want the dog to have a great time and unfortunately it has to be in a crate all day at your home and that just isn't fair to the dog and you don't feel right providing care that way.

I'm sorry this is happening, that is really a bummer!

answered a question Client wants to do a meet and great with out their pet?

You could try asking why they don't want to bring the dog and let them know this is a good time for you to get to know the dog's personality and even mention it is a requirement if you want. If you are concerned for your safety, definitely start off in a public place and if it goes well then you can always set up another Meet & Greet at their house or yours depending on where the service is going to be.

Sometimes people just want to interview the sitter to make sure the sitter is legit and it can come off sounding odd. If you are really concerned, you can also always contact Rover support and have them take a look at the account to see if anything weird is going on.

You never have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable.

commented answer Why is Easter not considered a Holiday through Rover?

That is what the support folks say. Veteran's day should be a good one to add to Rover's list though! And like my friend, you are always allowed to make it a holiday for yourself and just update the rate.

edited answer Why is Easter not considered a Holiday through Rover?

It isn't that Rover is saying it isn't a holiday, the site has to do it based on federal holidays and easter is not a federal holiday while christmas is. This is not to say it isn't your own holiday and you can always choose to charge the holiday rate, it just won't be automatically done by the site. Many sitters do this for their spring breaks in their school districts too! My friend writes into her profile that she charges her holiday rate for Easter and just updates the booking price when a request is sent through, and none of her clients have an issue. Since I am not christian, it is not a holiday for me so I don't charge differently.

commented answer Why is Easter not considered a Holiday through Rover?

It is about Federal Holidays or "Bank Holidays". Otherwise Rover would have to start having holiday rates for Passover, Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year, Holi, Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah, etc.
