asked a question Different price for puppies for Rover Now walks?

This isn't a question. More of a discussion. I recently started doing Rover Now walks and one client had a puppy and she personally requested me to walk her puppy again. I know puppies are more difficult to walk but but this one was so strong! And the leash the owner had was a rope like leash. I couldn't get a good hold of the leash and he would pull so hard while walking that I would have to let go sometimes so I wouldn't get rope burn. I did talk to the owner and she said it's fine for me to bring my own leash when I walk him. I just feel that the price for puppy walks should be different because not only was the leash the problem but he tried to get out of his harness and I have to constantly stop him from eating things off of the ground.

What do yall think?

answered a question BIG request from new owner, not sure to take...?

Im not sure how to refer client to other sitters but I say that you should set up a Cat Care Rate (go to your profile, click rates under service and rates, click additional rate under house sitting and cat care rate should be under there). Also let to owner know that they need to have all of their pets (the dogs and cats. I don't see anywhere for the birds to be added) If they don't know how to add cats just send them this link: https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000154646-How-do-I-create-a-cat-profile- (https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...)

For any other pets that they can't add on Rover or we the sitters can't set a price for, set your own price and let them know. "Just wanted to let you know my rates for birds are $$ per day." You can easily modify the stay and add the total amounts for the pets for the stay. It's important to add the cats and dogs so the can be covered by rover (I'm not sure about adding other pets but maybe you can contact rover so you know what to do the next time)

I think its was a smart move to canceled since you don't know anything about birds. The owner will be able to find another sitter so I wouldn't be worried about it.

commented answer How to get review option back?

Thank you! I see that the owner hasn't left me a review so i'll just remind her tomorrow and tell her what you said. Once again, thank you!

asked a question How to get review option back?

I finished a booking yesterday and the owner said they would be able to give me a review tonight but I saw that the stay has been completed. I know I have reviewed already but I don't think the owner has yet. This has happened before with another owner but lucky he booked me again and left a review the second time around. Is there a way for me or the owner to get the review option back? I understand that sometimes the owner don't have time right away to give a review but I wish there was a way to get the option back or should have a extend option for reviews.

answered a question Advice on getting first client?

Hi Paige! I know it can be hard. I signed up with Rover on july 1st and I didn't get any request for that month. I got a request for early and late august which was cool. During my first stay I got 3 requests for the same week! I was already booked so I had to unfortunately decline them all but i'm starting to get more requests now. I feel that once you get your first booking more will come. I agree with Walt and Casey, start with lower rates to build up your clients and reviews and then you can set your prices higher later. I am currently at that stage of building up my clients and reviews. You got this!

Also, make sure you are on top of answering requests as fast as possible. Some client will be talking to multiple sitters/walkers and you want to be consider as one of their options. Also, send reminders throughout the day if they don't reply back right away. Sometimes the owner will forget to text you back when they sent the first message or they may have found another sitter and just forgot to tell you. The reason why I say this because I got a request and then I offered a meet and greet. I waited 2 days to send a reminder because I thought the owner was busy and would get back to me when they could. Turns out they found another sitter. When you do confirm a meet and greet make sure you contact the owner the day of the meet and greet because they may need to cancel and just forgot to let you know.

asked a question How do I let the owner know about the cat rate?

I just got a request to house sit a dog and a cat in October. I have my cat rates setup but the owner doesn't have their cat setup on their profile. I was thinking about letting it slide (it would be my first time watching a dog and a cat) but my mom is HIGHLY allergic the cats so that means before I come back home i'm going to have to wash EVERYTHING just in case and I don't have a problem with that but I feel I should defiantly be compensated for that. I haven't meet with the owner yet. I offered to meet today or tomorrow but they haven't responded back. I know I have some time to meet with them since it won't be until the last week of October. How do I go about letting them know about adding their cat? I do know how to edit the price without having to cancel the booking. Should I let them know about adding the cat rate and just remind them to add their cat on their profile for the next time or next sitter? It would only be an extra $35. I just don't want them to think i'm money hungry but I know i'm going to have to wash everything like i said (plus I like cats lol). Any advice would be great!

commented question I'm officially a certified on-demand dog walker :) but on-demand dog walking won't be offered to dog owners for a few weeks?

Congrats! I got certified as well! They probably just wanted to have enough walkers for when they do launch the service or maybe they have more things they need to do internally. Either i'm excited to start!

commented answer How to change location?

Oh wow! Thank you so much! I guess I didn't look everywhere lol but once again, thank you!

asked a question How to change location?

So i'm going to be moving at some point (not right now) and I would like to know how to change my address/location now so when I do move I won't have to stress over it. I looked through the settings but I don't think I am looking in the right place. If there is an ability to do so then that would be great to know.

commented question Do you need a car in order to be a dog sitter?

I currently don't have a car but my mom takes me where I need to be or I use ride sharing services (my most requested service is house sitting). So no you don't need a car but I am trying to get a car just in case of emergency (but most lyft and uber drivers allow dogs in their car).

asked a question Requested on day not available?

So I got a dog sitting request and 2 of the days requested were for days I marked as unavailable on my calendar. How is that possible? I did let the owner know that I can't dog sit for them but I thought it was weird that they would be able to still request days the are marked unavailable.

commented question Why did my dog just have her very first seizure?

You might want to check the dog food she's eating. Some brands have been know to cause seizures. Just the brand and take her to the vet asap.

asked a question Questions to ask owners for future stays?

Hi! I am new to rover and I booked 2 stays (YAY!) but after the meet and greet the owners ask if I have any questions for them which is normal. For some reason I don't have any questions for them and it makes me feel like i'm not making a good impression. I do know that some owners just give you all the information during the meet and greet so sometimes there really wouldn't be any questions for me to ask. I want to make a list of questions that I should ask the owner at the end or during the meet and greet.

What would be some good questions to ask?
