asked a question Does Rover ask about pets being up to date on vaccines? Especially Rabies?

In the past (and not with Rover) I was bit while dog sitting. I had to go to the ER and multiple people kept asking me "was the dog up to date on shots?" and I had no idea and had a hard time contacting the owner. I know that it is probably my responsibility to find out but just wondering if Rover asks. Does anyone else ask for vaccines or rabies proof?

asked a question If I up my nightly rate, do my pending clients get charged my old rate or my new rate?

I have decided that I am going to up my nightly rate - I started rover a few months ago so I started with a low nightly rate but since then have gotten a lot of jobs and a bunch of great reviews! So I'd like to up my rate but I have jobs pending and I don't want those people to get charged my new rate since they contacted me when my rate was lower. I know I can manually change it too, but I was just curious if anyone knows. Thanks!!

answered a question When do reviews show up?

I know if your on the app you have to close out or log out then go back in to see new ones. That worked for me. I'm not sure about the website though!? Loging out could work? Sorry I'm not much help!!

answered a question Not sure what to charge to let someones pets out 3 times a day?

I also made this mistake with my first job I got through rover! I didn't specify because I never thought about it and they had me going to their home 5 times a day....thanks for the info! So once they contact you, do you just get back to them with an adjusted rate?

answered a question I want to sit but not overnight?

I do overnight sitting but don't always spend the night if I don't feel comfortable. I just explain to the owners that I can be over as early as they'd like and stay as late as they'd like at night but make sure they know I will not be sleeping there. I feel like most owners are okay with that. I mean maybe I have lost clients over that, I really don't know, but I do explain that very thoroughly in my profile. And even if I say I won't spend the night, sometimes when I meet them and go into their home I do feel very safe and comfortable so then I will often those services again. I just wouldn't do anything you aren't comfortable with.

commented answer What is the Rover phone number?

Thanks, that's really interesting. I think from now on I'm just going to plan on double checking that I have their personal numbers. I'm sure no one will have a problem with that, because like you said they are trusting me with their dog and in their home. And that they have my number as well.

commented answer How do I charge a different rate for dog walking than dog hosting?

Actually, I was kind of wrong. Go to dashboard-edit profile-dog sitting profile- services and rates. There is a dog walking option there where you can put in a specific rate. But I still am not 100% sure how or if someone can book just dog walking with you?

answered a question What is a permanent Rover number. Will it call an owner's phone?

I also had a similar question to this. Yes, it will automatically go right to the owners phone. Also, if you text the Rover number, your texts will show up in your messages to that person in your inbox/messages. Personally, I have had some issues with getting through to some people on the phone with this number. Sometimes it rings and sometimes it just hangs up right away. I think from now on I will make sure I always ask for their personal number at the meet and greet so I don't run into this issue again.

commented answer What is the Rover phone number?

Not really, but I found out on my own that it does automatically go to their phone since my client didn't pick up and his voicemail read me his personal phone number anyways. But sometimes it goes through sometimes it just hangs up as soon as I dial, still no idea why that is!!

answered a question Why do bully sticks smell so bad?

I didn't know the answer to this either so I googled it and found out what it really was.... But I guess it depends on how they clean them? I also saw that there is odor free ones. Hope this helps :)

answered a question How do I charge a different rate for dog walking than dog hosting?

I don't believe there is an option. I know a lot of people would like that to be an option though! I have read that some people explain on their profile that they charge $X for dog walking but since there is no dog walking option, to please book an overnight stay and then you can adjust the rate to whatever you decide your dog walking rate would be! Would be a lot easier if this was just an option! :) hope this helps!!

answered a question Is Rover.com making Rate Adjustments now??

I also think I read somewhere that during a holiday they will automatically adjust your holiday rate too. For example, if your holiday rate is $35/night they might adjust it to $38/night without you doing anything. So if you have that box checked they will not do this for you. Thats just an example and random numbers, I don't really know how they determine what the adjusted rate would be. That is my understanding of it at least!

answered a question How do I disconnect facebook from my Rover account?

I believe it is dashboard->edit profile->settings. Then there is some Facebook options on the bottom. Hopefully this is what you are looking for!

answered a question meet and greets?

I actually don't always "book" my meet and greets. I always go on them but I never send the official meet and greet book it thing. I feel like I have already talked to my clients through messages or phone about time/place/date etc so why repeat it. But I guess it isn't a bad thing to be on the safe side. If I book a meet and greet (verbally) a week or more in advance I always make sure I follow up with a message confirming the meet and greet time and date. I also don't book the actual stay until after the meet and greet and everything about the job is made clear and to make sure it is a good fit for both you and the dog/owner. So once you are totally done meeting the dog/ going over medications and everything is set between you and the owner, I would then go ahead and book the stay. Make sure you tell the owner that you will go ahead and book it and that they will have to confirm it as well. Some owners are good about it, some not so much!

asked a question What is the Rover phone number?

I'm confused on how each client gets their own Rover number. I mean it makes sense but does that number automatically go to their phone? I needed to call an owner and the Rover number was all I had and I tried calling through the app and it didn't work. It hung up right away. Once I went onto the website and typed in the (different) phone number there it worked. Has this happened to anyone else?

answered a question How can i find people to dog sit for?

Craigslist and Facebook have been best for me. I have only been a sitter for 2 weeks and have had 5 people contact me. I post to craigslist as often as your allowed and also in a more specific region. For me it's the northwest suburbs of Chicago, not just Chicago as a whole since there are so many sitters there. Much less in a small area I have been finding. Also I posted on Facebook and was lucky enough to have friends and family share my post and that has brought me a whole bunch of attention as well.

answered a question How much does it cost for a background check?

For the background check question - it's free! You can do it all right through Rover's site when you sign up, I believe there is a list of things you have to do before you can be approved. It just takes a few days after you submit your background check for that to be approved.

asked a question Spending the night at client's houses?

I currently only travel to the clients/dogs home since I cannot have dogs where I live. I have been asked a few times to spend the night, but I do not feel comfortable doing that at a strangers house. I have been making sure I let them know I'm willing to come as early and stay as late as they'd like. Have any of you experienced this question? And what have you done about it if you do not feel comfortable about sleeping there? Thanks!
