What is the Rover phone number?

I'm confused on how each client gets their own Rover number. I mean it makes sense but does that number automatically go to their phone? I needed to call an owner and the Rover number was all I had and I tried calling through the app and it didn't work. It hung up right away. Once I went onto the website and typed in the (different) phone number there it worked. Has this happened to anyone else?

I think it was intended to protect your privacy since calls and texts to the number forward to your phone and you don't have to give out your real number.

I have three issues with this system:
1- Caller ID shows a call from someone in California. Since I'm in Oklahoma, I ignored the first few calls and almost missed out on a booking.
2- Only the phone number registered in the client's account can call and get transferred. For one booking, the wife set up the account, but her phone was dieing, so her husband called and it wouldn't go though.
3- If someone is trusting me with their dog (or even access to their home), I think I can trust them fully with my personal phone number.

Thanks, that's really interesting. I think from now on I'm just going to plan on double checking that I have their personal numbers. I'm sure no one will have a problem with that, because like you said they are trusting me with their dog and in their home. And that they have my number as well.

I had to call a client for conformation and instead of checking their file (I made up with er contacts, etc) I called the number it showed on her account. It went to her business number. She called me back right away, very confused and not sure who called because she didn't check her voice mail. We figured it out and I don't use her work #.

I have never tried to call a client through their Rover number but have exchanged hundreds of text messages and pictures so assume it would work for a call.

Here's what it says on my screen:

You may call Kathy's permanent Rover number anytime.

(858) 256-xxxx

Kathy may call your Rover number:

(anytime, once you have booked a stay, never)

Change your calling settings for new clients

Hope that helps!

That's a really good question Kelsey, has anyone given you this answer yet? Because I would like to know as well.

Not really, but I found out on my own that it does automatically go to their phone since my client didn't pick up and his voicemail read me his personal phone number anyways. But sometimes it goes through sometimes it just hangs up as soon as I dial, still no idea why that is!!

When a stay is booked if you check the care instructions for the dog(s) it gives you their personal number. After the stay is over, if you wish to continue conversation, you can not message the person through http://rover.com, however, you can continue to message in the message thread in your phones text messaging app.
