Spending the night at client's houses?

I currently only travel to the clients/dogs home since I cannot have dogs where I live. I have been asked a few times to spend the night, but I do not feel comfortable doing that at a strangers house. I have been making sure I let them know I'm willing to come as early and stay as late as they'd like. Have any of you experienced this question? And what have you done about it if you do not feel comfortable about sleeping there? Thanks!

I provide both services. Usually my traveling sitter clients request when they want me to visit, but rarely ask me spend the night. However, I understand that if nobody is home, they want someone with the dog. I have done so after spending at least an extended meet & greet with the owners and a day care visit with the dog. So, I was comfortable with it. If you're not comfortable there, I think you just need to let them know and find out if you can offer services that meet their needs for that time.

I just declined sleeping at someone's home because once I got there I was wildly uncomfortable-something just felt off. I told them that I didn't feel comfortable and the dog wasn't showing signs of anxiety so I decided to sleep at my own home.

However, I do not have my own car so the sits I have done I've always slept there. However the one I just mentioned I didn't do a meet and a greet so I felt like I wasn't supposed to be there? Anyone else I've met and been in their home for several hours before I commit to it. I prefer to sleep at the homes of either women who live in a secure location (not first floor, etc) or a couple. I personally wouldn't sleep at a single man's home or a woman's house in the middle of no where.

Most people that reach out to me for traveling pet services are shocked when I offer to sleep the night, most people don't expect it or they feel just as uncomfortable!

I always stay the night when I sit. However, no one is home, it's just me and the dog(s)/cat(s). I tell them beforehand that I do pet-sitting/house-sitting so they know what to expect. We go over everything during the meet and greet. If something doesn't feel right to either of us, we don't book the stay and they go with another sitter.

I use public transit and don't have a car, so it's not easy for me to travel back and forth between my house and their house. That's why I am a travelling pet sitter.
