marked best answer | Is the sitter paid if an owner cancels? I have asked this question of Rover. com but the answer is not clear I'm confused about the three different types and how it pertains to me. I'm sure it is a matter of semantics, but nevertheless... |

answered a question | Have Any Hosts Installed Artificial Turf For Doggies On Their Property ? I HIGHLY recommend going ahead with your project as long as you can afford to get high grade turf. I have had it now for more than seven years. I live in San Diego, CA and don't get much rain, therefore, I need to wash down the turf at least once a week. I have at least five dogs every day and more on weekends and holidays. So far the turf has served it's purpose.....very little weeding needed, just along the edges. I did have some sprout in the lawn itself but kept them pulled until they stopped coming. Didn't uses weed killer cause of the dogs. I have some spots where dogs have tried to dig, but since my charges are always supervised, they don't get far. As far as smell goes....I have had some areas at different times hold onto the smell. That is when I spray the area with Clorox. |

answered a question | Can I give my dog chicken bones? Have to disagree......you CAN give chicken bones IF you have the right information! First, Kathleen D. is correct with her answer but only because she is speaking of COOKED chicken bones. These bones are not for dog consumption! |
asked a question | Are bark collars a good training tool? I would greatly appreciate the thoughts of those who have actually used them...and not just thoughts of cruelty. I have used one on a set of sister pups as suggested by owner. I had my own feelings of such items. BUT... after three different days, one of the pups stopped her erratic barking and has not use collar since. She still barks when it is appropriate. The other needs some days as reminders. Now I have a young male who has passed his puppy hood and is showing the same behavior of barking at nothing! Suggestions/thoughts, please. |

asked a question | How come I was booked with a new client without my knowledge? Got a phone call from a new client re: my watching her 6month puppy the next day. I pulled up Rover and there it was! This was the first time the lady used Rover and was waiting for me to call her back. Is this something new? When did Rover start booking a stay without the sitters knowledge? And yes, I accepted the dog WITHOUT a meet and greet....something I NEVER do except with very young puppies. I'm aware that I could cancel the sit but when I hesitated, she became very concerned..don't blame her either! |

asked a question | What creative ways have you come up with to stop a dog from eating poop? I am aware of the possible reasons that dog eat poop and also fo the usual ways that are suggested for stopping this behavior. So now I am hoping that someone in our community has come up with an unusual system. |
answered a question | Why does my dog bark at his food? My dog is going on 14 and she usually barks at every single meal. Sometimes she goes into play position (butt in the air) and other times just barks. Wish I could tell you why for sure, but I can tell you how I handle it When she starts barking, I point my hand, like a gun, and say "Bang, bang, its dead". So it has become a ritual with her which is only ignored when I give her a Sunday morning treat of scrambled eggs on top. |

asked a question | If cancellation policy for daycare is flexible, why was an owner told that refunds come from the sitter? A owner paid for four visit through Rover. Cancelled two days in a row. When he contacted Rover for a refund he was told that it was my (sitter) responsibility to refund him. According to the "flexible " policy, should it not be Rover refunding him? |

commented answer | How should I keep my dog from digging? I am a bit uncomfortable with the nail solution.....even professionals can cut to close to the quick thus opening chances for infection, but that's me! I have a yard so I put in a kids pool in a spot with sand. I hide different bones, maybe 2-3x's a week when I check for any "accidents". |
