Have Any Hosts Installed Artificial Turf For Doggies On Their Property ?

My host facility is in Tucson Arizona and I am in between winter and summer lawn seasons. Tired of maintaining a lawn, watering, mowing etc, I am looking at artificial turf solutions for my front yard, two sections of about 1000 sq ft total. I am checking out K9 Grass (brand) at the top end of the price scale, maybe paying more on the front end, 10 year renewable warranty available. Seems to be working well at the Prescott Arizona Beneful award dog park there. Wondering if any other host has gone to a full application, not just disposable astro-turf here and there. Seeking input.

I highly recommend the artificial turf. I have had it for years now and it is wonderful!! You must sanitize it at least once a week though and replace worn out pieces periodically but other than that it is a blessing.

I will start off by saying that I do not have any experience first hand with Artificial turf. However, Living in San Diego, I go to a lot of clients houses that have Artificial Turf. One big thing that I have noticed is that there is a lot of maintenance that is needed on the Turf when you have pets, and even than there still seems to be a lingering urine smell over time. Like I said, I personally could not tell you first hand on this but something to consider. I would probable call a boarding facility that has had artificial turf installed ( for at least a couple of years now) and ask them their thought and views on maintenance with urine smells.

Best of Luck on what ever route you decide to go!

I HIGHLY recommend going ahead with your project as long as you can afford to get high grade turf. I have had it now for more than seven years. I live in San Diego, CA and don't get much rain, therefore, I need to wash down the turf at least once a week. I have at least five dogs every day and more on weekends and holidays. So far the turf has served it's purpose.....very little weeding needed, just along the edges. I did have some sprout in the lawn itself but kept them pulled until they stopped coming. Didn't uses weed killer cause of the dogs. I have some spots where dogs have tried to dig, but since my charges are always supervised, they don't get far. As far as smell goes....I have had some areas at different times hold onto the smell. That is when I spray the area with Clorox.
