Can Petsitters with their own website listed as Rover??

I saw a Rover sitter pop up on Google listed as her Business name + http://Rover.com in the listing. Is that allowed?

I'm guessing not, as all of us would be doing it.

Why wouldn't it be allowed? Everyone is an independent contractor. So long as the person didn't use Rover's logo and artwork, then they should be fine. Just read the Terms of Service:

https://www.rover.com/terms/tos/

There are many people on Rover who have pet-related businesses and have websites for them. Rover is merely another platform for advertising one's business.

Using http://Rover.com to unfairly promote yourself locally on Google apparently is wrong. They're looking into it.

Rover encourages sitters to post their link to the Rover page and advertise locally on sites like craigslist. How is this any different?

It is allowed. Rover even gives you a link to your Rover profile with a code attached that you can post elsewhere that gives a discount to whoever uses it. They even encourage posting the link in ads for Craigslist or other online market places. Rover sitters are independent contractors not employees of Rover.

It sounds to me like you already reported it to Rover so I'm not sure there is a question there? But I seriously hope that when you say "apparently it's wrong" you are meaning that it is against the terms of service to have your own website or google listing that takes you directly to Rover or to your Rover profile. I can see how that is not allowed by Rover as they should dictate when and how people access their site (your Rover profile is not your own site and you don't "own" the page, Rover does).

However if you're stating that it is not acceptable for a pet care provider that uses Rover to have his/her own website or other advertising that has nothing to do with Rover my understanding is that is not at all accurate. As Walt had stated, Rover is a platform for Independent Contractors to be listed; we are not contractually obligated to only take jobs through Rover. Therefore we can (and many do) have our own websites and other means of attracting and retaining clients outside of Rover. The big thing to remember is that if we got a client through Rover we must continue to book that client through Rover and not book with him/her outside of Rover.

I have my own website and private business along with having a profile on Rover. I don't show any relationship with Rover on my own site. https://www.22192petcare.com/

Rover is looking in to it. She is obviously doing it wrong and giving herself unfair advantage.

Thanks for the down vote They got you too @Karen so I up voted your response

Thanks, @Walt. I'll take care yours. "They" is the OP, who loves to downvote. All you have to do is look at her activity. Perhaps if her question wasn't so unintelligibly written....

Thanks @karen
