When do you give up a potential booking after a meet and greet ? ??

Had a meet and greet over a week ago and the client said they would be "shopping around" which I can respect. How long do you wait without a response? I would like this job, but it's over a holiday and is tying up my dates.

Or how do you politely ask them to make a decision?

First thing you do is archive the booking request, marking it customer didn't respond. This still allows you to communicate with the client but it puts you back in the search pool. You can always ask them if they've chosen a sitter and that you cannot hold a spot open for them at that time of the year.
