Does anyone provide a discount if you are watching a dog for an extended period of time?

Someone wants a sitter for 6 weeks as they will be out of town and feel that there should be a discount. If you do provide a discount how much?

I offer a weekly rate, a 2 week and a monthly rate. I also offer a discount for multiple dogs. Repeat clients are gold and they love knowing how much to plan for the sitter when they are planning their trip. I've had dogs for 6 months at a time.

For me it depends. My nightly rate is $35, but for stays over 7 nights, I charge $40, because of the added burden (the longer I have the guest dog, the fewer other potential new clients I can book...my time is valuable!). But if it were a repeat client and it was for 6 weeks, I would offer them a discount instead.

See for stays 7 nights or more my rates go down because I know I'm guaranteed payment for an extended period of time.

I also lower my rate $5 a night for booking 7 or more nights. A 6 week stay would probably be even less per night. With a longer they stay everyone is more comfortable and relaxed in my home. That may open me up to offering an opening for additional clients when fur friends feel "at home" here.

As a sitter, I tend to provide a discount for extended stays. My nightly rate is $35, but for a stay of that length I might reduce my nightly rate by $10 to $25/night.

Yeah, I drop my rates $5 a night (from $30 to $25) for stays over 7 days, essentially giving them a 'free' day for every 6. I find it becomes easier to watch a dog as the stay length increases, since most of their nervous, new location stress behavior is over the first couple days. After that, they get settled in, the routine gets smoother, walks get less awkward with the additional dog, and everything is just more pleasant. Also, long stays eliminate the hassle of arranging details with multiple clients over the same time period. Knowing you're going to be booked for two straight weeks is worth a little discount - what are the chances all 14 of those days would be booked otherwise? If only 12 were booked otherwise, you'd break even, but you'd have to exert more effort with communication and meet and greets to make that happen.

how do you adjust it for that stay, we set ours up to give a discount after 7 days, but the way rover has it, it appears that we give a discount for all 7 days..the discount should start on the 8th day and going forward if that make sense

That's not how their extended stay rate works - it's like a discount at the store where you buy something at four for $10, but if you don't buy all four you pay the full cost for the ones you do buy. The extended rate is a lower daily rate that a client qualifies for when a long enough stay is booked. The entire stay is at that lower rate.

Do you give discounts for stays over the peak holiday period in December?

My original answer was before I had holiday rates set. But yes, I still do give discounts. The dogs I sit for over the holidays are clients I've had pretty much since I started out. I love them and their dogs, and I'm happy to discount. This year I've got one of my regulars booked from 12/23 to 1/4, and I dropped their daily rate a few dollars (so they get a discounted rate from my normal holiday rate), and then did a price adjustment to round the total down to an even number for them.

Yes, I would give a discount of between 5-10$ a day, depending on size and needs of the dog. If the dog is small and easy to care for, it would be $10 off, but if the dog took up a lot of space or required several walks a day or had other extra needs, the discount would be less. The best tip a client can give you is return business, and if you go out of your way to accommodate a pet by giving a small discount, that client will remember that and return again and again ( hopefully!)

Depends on the Client, what time of year it is and what type of dog, not really :) I'm new to Rover and having clients is my priority so I will discount a longer stay up to $10. I have a Four Legged Family Member (FLFM) who is with us for the next 45 days. My rate is usually $25/night staying for $15. I know if I meet the expectations of the owners they will be booking similar length stays with me. For shorter stays 2 weeks to 4 weeks I charge $22/night. Happy Dogs, Make Happy Clients which means Repeat clients.

Discounts are always available. 18$ for longer than two weeks. lowering price for longer stay will definitely satisfy the pets owner and the stay is well worth it at a home other than being alome in the dark at some pet hotel. lower prices y''all cause we love dogs.

I always give a discount for anything longer than a week. I think customers appreciate that, and will be more inclined to book you!

There is an option where you adjust your rates for pet sitting on your profile. There is a place for a discount if the stay is longer than a week so I would tell them that rate.
