“Don was great with our 2 small pups! He used the app for checking in and out so we knew when he was there and he sent us little summaries through the app with photos everyday which was nice. His love of dogs was very apparent and his excitement to see our dogs each day made it feel like we were doing him a favour and not the other way around! We felt confident and safe having Don in our home caring for dogs and wouldn’t hesitant to work with him again!”

“We are so grateful for the care you provided for our cat on such short notice over the holidays. It was a huge relief knowing they were in such good hands. Communication was great, and it was clear our cat was comfortable and well cared for. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again—thank you so much!”

“We loved having Chelsea looking after our two small puppies! She was friendly and responsive to messages and was respectful of our house. We would happily have her look after our dogs again!”

About: I have had farm animals and pets my whole life. All of my pets have had long wonderful lives ranging from 19-22years. I feed my pets all natural and raw foods. I keep my pets groomed and medically sound. I currently work 3 days a week which leaves 4 days a week of being available at home. I only work a 5 minute drive from my home. I have my own dog who is trained and well behaved. On the days that I work I take her for a walk in the morning, come home on my lunch for a walk and then 2 walks in the evening. My Siberian Husky is great company and she has plenty of toys to share. I will have crates set up in my house if you prefer your pet to be crate trained or if the crate is a comfort zone for your fur baby.

About: I am a former Veterinary Technician with several years of clinical experience. Prior to graduating I worked at a variety of pet stores and learned to care for dogs, cats, lizards, birds and more. I've also previously worked as a dog walker for a kennel in Montreal. As a child, I also cared for the neighbourhood animals while their owners were on vacation I currently work full-time office hours Uptown. Available in the evenings and weekends. Early mornings can be discussed, dependent on distance and how early we're talking! Cannot care for other animals in my apartment, three animals in a one bedroom already has me at max capacity! However, I can work within the limits of your home with your pet! As a fellow pet owner, I understand the importance of trust and the ability for a pet sitter to follow instruction
About: As a dog lover and owner myself, I have a deep understanding and appreciation for the joy and companionship that dogs bring into our lives. Since 2019, I have been caring for my own furry baby and have also had the pleasure of looking after friends' dogs as well. They have all said that I am a reliable and trustworthy caretaker, providing love and attention while making sure their pets are safe and comfortable. Playing games such as tug of war and catch with dogs is one of my favorite activities, as it allows me to bond with them and see their playful personalities shine through. Above all, the happiness and fulfillment I get from taking dogs out for a walk is unparalleled, and I am excited to share that joy with your furry companions. I work from home so I am generally open anytime from 10 am to 6 pm. I can do lunch potty breaks or afternoon walks. I do not currently offer services to care for dogs in my own home, or in the client's home. But for dog walks, I always stick to the areas with less people, sidewalks, and parks. If the neighbourhood seems good, I will try to stick to the neighbourhood.
“I feel so comfortable leaving my pups with Meaghan!! Dogs just know - and even our nervous rescue dog warms up quickly!! If you’re looking for someone super friendly and great with dogs, Meaghan is your girl!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - St. John
Amelia's care for Levi was exceptional as usual! Her services are very dependable and she is very caring, always looking out for Levi's best interests. We had forgotten to look after a couple of things and she was quick to look after these matters as soon as she arrived at our home, which made Levi very comfortable! Her love for animals shows in the way she looks after their needs! I am usually nervous about leaving our Levi at home but I felt completely confident that he would be well loved by Amelia! Thanks so much for being such a reliable and loving sitter! 10 Star Sitter for sure!!!

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or travelling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer poop breaks during a St. John stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover based on what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.
You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in St. John choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
