A bit about me:

I understand what it's like to worry about your dog when you're away, I have three fur babies of my own--Deuce (Basset Hound), Lincoln (Staffie/Great Dane) and Piper (Shih Tzu). I love them with all my heart and when I go away I want the best care possible for them. I want to give that care to your pup(s)!!

I spent many years working at the Humane Society of WI. It was so wonderful to help the fur babies find their forever families. I am super active and love to get outside. My dog clients will receive the 5-paw treatment, and their owners will too! This will feel like it is their second home!!

FOR DAYCARE: I am very flexible with drop off and pickup times, but I do consider eight hours a full day. I am open to making special arrangements, so please don't hesitate to reach out if your schedule differs from these options.

FOR BOARDING: Daycare is automatically included. However, per Rover guidelines, pickup time should be twenty-four hours from drop off. (For example, if your pet is dropped off at 2:00 p.m. pickup should be by 2:00 p.m. on the day you return.) I completely understand travel issues can arise, which is why I am more than happy to arrange a later time to accommodate your needs. For pickups after your pet's scheduled slot, a daycare charge will be added. Or, if applicable, additional overnight boarding is needed.

Please note—I am very comfortable and willing to take long term guests; I have significant experience with doggies who have been with us up to 6 months!!

Animals are more than just pets, they truly are family and companions. I promise to care for your furry family member just like you do, please reach out with any questions you may have!

Thanks again and I look forward to meeting your pup(s).

Candlewood Canine Country ClubMinneapolis, MN

Welcome to Candlewood Canine Country Club! A Fun, Relaxing Vacation for your Dog!

Please check out my photos of just some of the many dogs I have hosted in my home!

I have several years of experience caring for dogs with many repeat guests.

Over the years I have also loved and enjoyed my own dogs and cats and they were a very important part of the family.

Owners have told me that their pets love coming to stay with me and are excited to be here!

With nearly an Acre, Plenty of Playtime for Dogs is available and there is lots of room to explore and play with a Very Large, Secure Fenced-in Backyard with a Locked Gate.

In warmer weather, there are plenty of shady and sunny spots to relax and enjoy the backyard!

Pets are treated with love and as part of the family!

There is a pet sofa in the living room right in front of the windows where dogs can relax, nap, bird and squirrel watch!

I can provide 24/7 care which means I can provide lots of extra love, care and attention as well as inside activities and outside playtime for your pets day and night.

Even though I provide 24/7 care, it is not meant for dogs that need constant supervision due to behavioral issues such as digging, marking in the house, housebreaking issues, Excessive barking, Excessive whining, jumping/scaling fences/escape artists, aggressive behavior, etc.

Very young puppies, Pit Bulls, Pit Bull mixes, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Huskies, Cattle dogs, any dogs mixed with the above breeds or aggressive dogs are not a good fit for me to host in my home.

It is important that dogs are a good fit here and that I provide a safe environment.

All dogs Must Be Vaccinated /current on their shots and on some form of Flea/Tick Prevention.

My home has 2 levels. Dogs have access to the upper level, the deck and the backyard so I can keep an eye on them at all times. My home is dog friendly and dog proofed.

I do not have any children.

My home is a smoke-free home and I am a non-smoker.

I live in a Minneapolis Suburb that is easily accessible from all directions.

We Love our Repeat Guests but also take in New Guests! We like to establish long term relationships with you and your dog!

Even though I do not have any of my own pets and my calendar shows I am available I usually have at least one dog here so if you know that your dog is not good with other dogs I will not be able to accommodate you.

Drop Off and Pick Up times are flexible and I will work around your schedule to meet your needs.

The Boarding rate/Drop off and Pick up times is based on a 24 hour period,

I send photos along with updates during your dogs stay!

That means you don't have to lug along their kennels! Come check out our little doggy bedroom! Tulla loves it!

I found myself here because of my foster dog Bradley in 2016. He was terrified of people but loved dogs. This was my way of getting more dogs in his life and I fell in love with it.

My passion for dogs keeps me going. Dogs provide for me a deep emotional connection and a desire to understand them better. I am fascinated with current research on dog behavior and the canine-human bond and what we have yet to discover about its potential. As a biologist, I want to understand everything I can about them. I strive to use positive reinforcement and unconditional love. I did a lot of work with shy fearful dogs at the humane society and found it extremely rewarding. Their capacity to forgive and trust in us is mind-blowing. I am currently a lead at VCA animal wellness center resort and spa. I'd love to train more in canine rehabilitation and dog therapy training. Rover is a financial way for me to pursue my passion while simultaneously gaining knowledge and experience via numerous canine relationships. Thank you for being a part of my journey I look forward to working with your dog(s)!

Going out of town? We want to watch your pooch! My husband and I have 28 combined years of experience with dogs, and love all sizes, large to small. Your dog will love playing and going on lots of walks, and the time will pass so quickly they'll barely notice you were away. Please let me know if you have questions, would like more info, or if you'd like to set up a meet and greet for us to get to know you and your dog! Thank you!!

Home all day! Let's Play!Folwell, Minneapolis, MN

I've always had dogs in my life; I can't imagine a day without them. Their empathy, warmth, and deep, lasting love is invaluable. In fact, my dogs were my greatest allies on the path to recovery after my car accident a couple of years ago. Charlie and Hank saw me through each challenge as I shifted career paths and became an artist: illustrating children's books, painting wildlife, and creating pet portraits. Love, communication, and unconditional support are the tenets of my care philosophy. I’ve been working with dogs since I was young, and understand and appreciate them on a deep, instinctual level.

My dogs were ecstatic that I work from home now and spend all day with them, but I felt like I needed something more. Dog-sitting is the perfect solution! Hank is very social, and loves having other dogs over to play--and I love getting outside and playing with them, too. It’s been the perfect way to transform hardship into a blessing. Charlie passed away over the summer from cancer. Michael is Hank's new companion and he wouldn't survive a day without a group of friends to wrestle and chase.

I own a small, dog-friendly house with a fenced-in yard and a great deck out back. It’s a wonderful place for pups to play! There's a dog swingset with toys hanging instead of swings, perfect for serious games of tug-of-war. I put out small pools in the summer which are Michael's prefered nap spots. My neighbors and their kids are dog lovers who are incredibly friendly and supportive. One neighbor is on call for emergencies, and stops by daily at the fence to give Hank his ear scratches! I live near the North Mississippi Trail, which Hank loves to explore with me. We stop along the way to let him lay in the river and swim after a stick. The area is gorgeous, with favorite places to walk like Webber Park and Victory Memorial Parkway. I’m located close to the Dowling exit on 94, so my place is easily reached for dropoff and pickup.

Hank, a Royal Poodle, is four. He’s tall, active, and exuberant. There isn’t a moment that his tail isn’t wagging, and he loves to follow me everywhere. He can be very mellow in the house and enjoys being around cats, people, and especially other dogs of all sizes! He has a fear of loud noises, thunderstorms, fireworks, and anything that in any way might sound like those. He has food allergies so we use carrots, cucumbers, apples, and broccoli for treats. His companion Charlie recently passed away, so he draws comfort from having new playmates.

Michael is two and could run all day. The best guess is that he is a dachshund mixed with some type of water-loving retriever. His favorite things are wrestling friends, chasing and being chased, and a good game of tug-of-war with another dog. He naps in the highest spots he can climb to and takes every oppotunity to get piggyback rides from people. With a weak bladder, Michael goes outside ever 1-2 hours and we take each oppotunity to play as much as we can!

I started caring for pups professionally at the age of twelve. I started with dog-sitting, then dog-walking, and competed in obedience and junior showmanship with my Basset Hound at the same time. I had her through my twenties, and I saw her through numerous slipped discs as well as ulcers and stomach cancer. Then, I adopted a Cocker Spaniel from a wonderful rescue group. He was albino and born deaf and I taught him hand signals, which he loved, until he also went blind--and then I taught him touch signals. I've administered medications, worked with dogs with limited mobility, and even used doggie diapers and monitored seizures. My last dog Charlie was a rescue with severe separation anxiety. I’m incredibly passionate about providing excellent care, and giving unconditional love to pups in need. Michael has a weak bladder and seperation anxiety. My patience, warmth, and dedication are unparalleled.

With years and years of experience, I’m the ideal sitter both for an elderly dog that’s slowing down and a young pup with boundless energy. I’m flexible, and since I work from home, I’m able to devote lots of one-on-one time to your dog! I do my best to make sure that everyone is going to have a good time every day--my dogs included. I’m attentive to everyone’s needs, and there’s plenty of love and playtime to go around.

Having all these adorable dogs running around, I can't resist doing drawings and paintings of them. So, if you’re interested, I’ll do a pet portrait when I need a break from current projects!

Love one family at a time!Brooklyn Park, MN

We love your furry loved ones one family at a time! We also do cat drop ins.

Availability shows on computers not the app! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Both my husband and I grew up with dogs and love them like they are our own family members. Scott used to own a cat and I have learned more about the cats over the past few years as our daughter has had roommates with cats. Our Rover experience started in January 2017. Our last dog passed away 4 years ago and when our daughter was away at college, we were empty nesters looking for furry companions to fill up our empty house. We felt the need to help others out as we know it is hard to leave your loved one with just anybody. Our dog had anger issues with kids so we had to kennel him and had always wished for a kind family to love him when we were away.

DOG BOARDING/DOGGIE DAYCARE (we do not board cats in our home): We would love to care for your dogs in our home. We have a big back yard not fenced but we also live by walking trails to go for walks if your dog likes that. We have a 40 foot cable hooked up in the backyard so the dogs can run freely to play catch with us. We never leave them unattended outside. I (Vickie) also come home at lunchtime 11:30, as I work only 5-10 min from home and walk the dogs around the block. Currently Scott’s work schedule fluctuates. Our daughter, Sydney moved to LA but occasionally comes home. We give loving personal attention to your loved ones in a setting with only your dog(s). We only accept one family at a time. We will care and love your dog(s) as one of our own sending pictures (1 photo in our daughter’s photography studio in the basement) and updates everyday 1-2 times daily or more if something is cute and I want you to see. We have watched our neighbors and families dogs and love to spoil them. We don't believe in hitting and we believe in rewards for being good. We have a two story house with lots of room to move freely. We have an unfinished basement so we have it gated unless we are down there then we let the dogs down with us. If they are elderly, we will watch them closely and can put a gate at the bottom of the steps going upstairs as well if needed. We have toys to share and love to play. We have several different size dog beds for them to use. We now have a “Big Barker” dog bed for dogs over 50 lbs to assure their joints a safe bed to lay on. We feel dogs are so loving and need companions when their owners are away to give them special attention until their family returns.

We believe in keeping the owners requests in kenneling during the day and/or night. We are open to them having free run of the house and sleeping in bed with us if they are used to that. We will follow your instructions. We love walks on the trails. If an owner prefers the dog park, we are willing to do that too. Dog parks aren't for everyone and we would never bring a dog without the owners request.

We do need to mention that we do accept 3 dogs from the same family. We do not watch more than one families dog at the same time unless they know each other from families. The only exception we are finding is drop off and pick up times may overlap with another families dog. We will not accept an overlap if it is more than 2-3 hours. We will separate the dogs and keep them occupied as best we can during these overlapping times. Please feel free to ask us more questions at the Meet and Greet session.

DOG WALKING: Vickie is available for dog walks after work and on weekends. I would do a 30 min session of walking or longer if the dogs can do more. I respect the owners wishes. I do not bring anyone else with me unless authorized ahead of time (usually Scott if he is off work). We would do a Meet and Greet and discuss how to enter into your home. I send updates through the Rover App (report card) which will notify you when I have started the visit, it keeps track of pictures, potty business, tracks the route I took and a final update on how our visit went with time stamp of walk ending.

DROP IN VISITS/IN HOUSE SITTING: Scott and I are available to care for your loved one in the setting of your own home. If you need us to drop in to let your dog/cat out, we will do that and spend time with them. Visits are 30-60 min depending upon your needs. If available, we would be willing to stay in your home to care for your dog/cat as well.

MEET AND GREETS: Dog Meet and Greets are important for owners and dog to get a feel for us and our house as this lessens their anxiety at the initial first day of their stay. Currently due to Scott’s job, he isn’t always available for Meet & Greet’s. During a M&G in our home for dogs, we ask that you try to have your dogs go potty in the yard upon arriving. Most dogs even if they go at home still need to go as it is a new situation for them and they have anxiety. This way they will be more comfortable and relaxed. We appreciate it thank you! Cat Meet & Greets in your home will be coordinated between all of us with your cat present.

Rover calendars show on computers the full range of availability but not on your cell phones. Book now for holidays, summertime and spring breaks! Phone apps don't show the full availability so always ask us if you have any dates that are questioning availability. Create your request under our profile for a 20% discount on your first booking through Rover. Promo code given at Meet & Greet session.

We do open up our calendars for inhome dogsitting, dog visits, drop ins and/or dog walking upon request if it does not show on calendar.

We look forward to meeting your furry loved one(s)! Please feel free to contact us with any questions about availability or pricing. We hope you consider us to love and care for your furry family member(s).
