About: I’ve cared for dogs since I was 8, looking after our family dog daily. For the past two years, I’ve regularly cared for my boyfriend’s puppy, including solo walks, holidays together, and plenty daily walks, even on the beach! I truly love dogs and, after losing my own, I want to share that love by helping others care for theirs. I’m careful, attentive, and very aware of my surroundings on walks. I live close to many beautiful short and long walking routes in the lakes and have both a large, secure garden and a safely fenced courtyard for dogs. I have a flexible part-time job and work self-employed two days a week, so my availability can often be adjusted. I’m available most weekday evenings and usually every other weekend and I’m always happy to work out what’s best for you and your dog. I love spending time with dogs and making sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I treat every dog as if they were my own and always prioritise trust, attention, and enjoyable walks! I will make sure things are easy and stress-free for both dogs and their owners :)

“Toby had a great stay with Steven. Steven kept me up to date with how Toby was and sent pictures and Toby really looked settled when I picked him up. Steven has a nice quiet calm way about him and I will definitely use his services again.”

“Well, what can I say… Pete is a lovely bloke who is clearly passionate about dogs. He has a great presence and seems to radiate calmness, which I think really helped our dog to settle with him. I can safely say that Juno will be returning to stay with her new found friend again soon. She clearly had a blast on her weekend holiday! Fantastic communication too, with updates and pictures throughout the weekend, these were greatly appreciated. Thank you Pete.”

“We have just picked up Lego after her staying with Nicola for almost 3 weeks. It is obvious that Nicola has taken great care of Lego as it was clear to us that she has had a great time and they clearly adore each other. We are so pleased to have found Nicola and wouldn't want her staying anywhere else.”

About: We had a dog as children I later owned two dogs, Daisy and Bongo (in photo gallery). In Italy, where I managed a study centre, I looked after the owners dog during their winter absence. In Yorkshire I worked in the office and house of a stud farm and looked after Bonzo the office dog. Recently, for 4 years, I walked, swam and went on adventures with a lovely bearded collie, Nelson, until he died, which was heart breaking. John, his owner, has provided a reference. Last year I joined a house sitting site and had a great year. I first looked after Rhubarb, in Yorkshire. a sun worshipper who knew when she wanted to go for a walk, and when she didn't. Then it was Reggie, a one year old terrier who kept me on my toes and was an absolute character. Then it was Knaresborough with Mollie and Maisie, the cutest, sweetest most loving pair. Lula was an anxious little Tibetan terrier who liked sleeping, a lot, and going for quiet walks on Ilkley Moor and in the woods. She even decided the river was quite nice to chill in. They all feature in the rogues gallery. Two of the owners have given references. Having lived all over the world I returned to the UK to retire. I am available from mid March until the end of October/mid November - I don't do English winters. I am totally free of commitments and can dog sit in someone's home for one to three weeks but am flexible on dates. I prefer countryside sits in new places, Yorkshire, Lakes, Lancashire coast. I could have your dog stay with me, if I am not booked on an away stay. Only older smaller dogs to stay with me please. I live opposite the beach so plenty of space to run around and enjoy the outdoors. I love the countryside, walking, swimming, reading, creative writing and painting - so am equally as happy sitting at home quietly if your dog is more of a home body! Last year was great. I had the company of some fabulous dogs. We visited National Trust properties. Walked favourite places. Explored woods. Swam in rivers. Went on car trips. Hung around in the garden at home. Had grooming sessions and belly rubs, well that's the dogs, not me. And cuddled on the couch. I met some adorable dogs and lovely owners and visited some fantastic places. I'm hoping for more of the same this year. I absolutely love dogs and for some reason dogs always adore me, even the anxious little Lula took to me straight away. All dogs are different and I'm happy to follow feeding and walking regimes. I'm good at ball throwing, belly rubbing, grooming, cuddling up and watching TV in the evenings.
“I was looking for a sitter to watch our little Banksy whilst we went on holiday. I am so so pleased with how well he has been looked after, i received constant updates and pictures of our pooch and i knew he was in safe hands. The whole process from start to finish was amazing and went so smoothly. Chelsea and Andy are fantastic dog sitters and if your pup likes other dogs then this is a little holiday for them aswell. 10/10 review, will be using chelsea and Andy again every single time we go away. Couldn’t have asked for a more amazing family to give Banksy the best week ❤️ From Scarlett and Tom”

About: I have had dogs throughout my entire life and have grown up around a variety of breeds, sizes, and personalities. Over the years, I have cared for both small and large dogs, including Jack Russell Terriers, Chihuahuas, Weimaraners, and other larger breeds. Having lifelong experience with dogs has helped me become confident in understanding their different needs, behaviours, routines, and temperaments. In addition to caring for family pets, I regularly look after my partner’s mother’s dog whenever she travels. This has included longer periods of responsibility, such as caring for her dog while she was in Australia for 3–5 weeks at a time. During these stays, I have been responsible for all aspects of the dog’s daily care, including feeding, walking, exercise, playtime, companionship, maintaining routines, and ensuring their overall wellbeing and happiness while their owner is away. I understand how important it is for pet owners to know their dogs are safe, comfortable, and receiving plenty of attention when they cannot be there themselves. I pride myself on being reliable, trustworthy, and attentive, always treating every dog as if they were my own. Whether a dog enjoys long walks and lots of activity or prefers a quieter routine with plenty of affection and companionship, I am happy to adapt to their individual needs. My lifelong love of dogs means I genuinely enjoy spending time with them, getting to know their personalities, and making sure they feel secure, happy, and cared for. I am committed to providing a positive experience for both pets and their owners through dependable care, regular updates, and plenty of love and attention. My partner has a daughter who is with us Thursday-Saturday. I am currently taking a career break and wanting to go down the dog boarding route so thinking this will be the best route to carry on my skills and experience. I will be available everyday. I have a large enclosed back garden with a six foot fence around so plenty of room to play safely :) I have no other pets.
“Finlay had a lovely stay with John and his family and came back happy and relaxed. John kept us updated with photos so we could see that Finlay was having fun and being well cared for. We would recommend John to anyone.”

“Katrina was great. She kept me up to date every day with photos and was very flexible with times and even asked about things like leaving the dog by himself for an hour. Her daughter also did some training with my dog. Clearly Katrina had a lot of love and respect for dogs and I’d recommend her to anyone”

“Katie recently helped out with some daycare for our Cocker Spaniel whilst we attended a wedding in Grasmere. She was amazing - incredibly committed, reliable and caring. The arrangements were all slightly complex, but she showed up exactly as agreed and even came late on Friday to meet Archie to help manage his anxiety. She is brilliant and I have no hesitation recommending.”

They are clearly able to provide a safe, caring environment for visiting dogs. The pictures posted were great and helped so much to reassure that your precious loved pets are happy and cared for. About: I grew up with a dog for 15 and a half years, which had a profound impact on me. I decided to pursue dog training after adopting a Boxer, a decision I've never regretted. I've learned a great deal about myself, including my insecurities, strengths, and how dogs and horses perceive me. It's been an invaluable experience that I've refined more and more throughout my life. I can care for dogs of any size and age, though they should be at least one year old. If needed, I can train young dogs and also care for older ones. I can also administer oral medications and give your Sweetie a soft & calming massage. In 2018 and 2021, I adopted two rescued Greyhounds whose calm and balanced nature has helped many other dogs. Even though they sometimes get excited at dog meetups, they always manage to build a stable relationship. This invaluable talent has brought us many friends on our daily walks. My two sweeties have become important members of various dog groups / packs and are, of course, always welcome among people. I am also available to help with nearly any behavioural issues you may encounter with your dog. How to read a dog's body language? How do I train my dog not to pull on the leash all the time? Why does my dog bark even when there's (obviously) no reason to? Would you like to change this unwanted behaviour in your beloved pet? Talk to me. I work from my home office in the mornings and late evenings. At midday, I take my two Greyhounds for their second walk, and they always enjoy sharing this time with new friends. They are both extremely friendly and outgoing, even with small dogs. Then it's garden time, perhaps some training, or playtime with friends like a Giant Schnauzer and a Labrador at my home. So there's always something going on, and after all that romping around, a little nap is more than welcome. I live in a typical residential area in Morecambe, yet still close to Lancaster. The area in and around Heysham and Morecambe offers plenty of opportunities for dog walks - whether out in the open countryside, across fields, or through small wooded areas. Beach walks are by far the dogs' favourite, and we regularly meet up with friends. At home and in my backyard I offer lounging areas, cooling mats in the summer, and a separate feeding area - indoors or outdoors, depending on the season and weather conditions.
About: I have over 10 years of hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of animals, from cats and dogs to horses and pigs. I’ve house-sat for multiple families, ensuring their pets are well cared for and kept in their usual routines while owners are away. I hold a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management, which gave me in-depth knowledge of animal health, welfare, behaviour, and husbandry across multiple species. Alongside this, I have experience working in a small animal veterinary practice, where I developed strong skills in recognising signs of illness, supporting senior pets, and assisting with general animal care. I am confident with basic medication administration and maintaining consistent routines for puppies and younger dogs. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’ve regularly cared for my own pets as well as those of family and friends for many years. I am responsible, reliable, and understand the trust involved in caring for both pets and homes. Pet care is my full-time focus. I run my own business caring for dogs and horses, which means I have full control over my schedule and can plan my days around the animals in my care. Because of this flexibility, I’m able to provide consistent attention, regular walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. About: I’ve grown up with dogs and mainly retrievers. I have always wanted to work with animals. I studied at an animal college in the Lakes and completed a 2:1 degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare in Gloucestershire. I have experience with dog sitting and walking through caring for dogs locally via a pet care website (Borrow my Doggy) with my parents, looking after a range of breeds from terriers to Labradors. I do have brief experience with other animals such as cats (did work experience in a cattery when I was younger) and reptiles (handling/training sessions at college and University during practicals) I am a calm and reliable pet lover who will provide your dog with that comfort that they deserve. I am on Rover especially around the quieter winter months. Dog walking fits into my routine on a flexible basis. At the moment I have quite a lot of availability and can plan my days around dog walking/care Although I will be doing mainly dog walking, if there ever is a chance I need to do a drop in visit in the future or house sitting at mine, my house is pet free and safe. I live in a quiet woodland area away from the main road, I am lucky to live on a road with most of my neighbours owning pets, so it’s a great little community. There’s plenty of green spaces and walks nearby

A lovely first experience of Rover Thank you Jane, I hope you have us back!😊”

“Katrina was great. She kept me up to date every day with photos and was very flexible with times and even asked about things like leaving the dog by himself for an hour. Her daughter also did some training with my dog. Clearly Katrina had a lot of love and respect for dogs and I’d recommend her to anyone”

“Sharon looked after our dog Molly for one night and day in her home, and I couldn't be happier with the care she provided. Molly had a brilliant time, she was taken on plenty of walks, and we received regular updates and videos which really put our minds at ease. Sharon clearly loves what she does and treated Molly like one of her own. I'd definitely use her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter.”

The photos of Barney relaxing on the sofa and on a walk with Desmond the next morning after his sleepover were very reassuring. We will definitely use Harriet again in the future to look after Barney when we are away. Thank you.”

Whether your pet needs active stimulation, structured exercise, or simply calm company, I can tailor my routine to suit their individual needs.
