Are you heading to Manchester for an adventure with your dog? We don’t blame you! With amazing shopping, a great foodie scene and sporting and arts events throughout the year, it’s no wonder that so many people love visiting this city. Whether you’re thinking of a long weekend, day trip, or are a local yourself, there’s so much to do for all the family (including doggos!).

Manchester has so much to offer dog parents, and is the perfect place to grab a drink with your pooch. To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of the best bars that allow dogs, for those times when you’re looking for a dog-friendly bar in Manchester.

This craft beer bar offers water on arrival for thirsty pups and an array of beers and craft ales for the humans amongst you. It’s one of the most dog-friendly bars in Manchester thanks to the founders being huge fans of dogs themselves.

Brewdog’s founders love dogs almost as much as we do, so it’s no surprise that they named their craft beer empire after them and welcome dogs into their bars up and down the country. If you’re also looking for somewhere to grab a bite, then this is your spot. Rock up and indulge in beers and burgers with your pooch right by your side,.

The things we love most about Brewdog’s dog policy is that they host dog birthday parties too! Dog-safe cakes will be provided for all furry guests and while owners are enjoying a tipple from a huge selection of craft beers, the canine contingent will be catered for with a specially made doggy beer.

2. Nip and Tipple

For the times when you and your pooch are in need of a chilled drink, Nip and Tipple is a great choice. You’ll find cocktails and pizza galore in this cute little neighbourhood bar, and they really go out of their way to provide your dog with everything he needs to enjoy his visit.

It’s a great place to go if you want a touch of authentic Manchester and are looking to rub shoulders with the locals. They have a good imported beer and wine selection and some signature cocktails that are very popular. Plus, they have a great pizza menu too, with customisable toppings that are cooked under an authentic stone bake oven – yum!

Nip and Tipple is a proper old school bar, so be warned that they open at 4pm most days and go on late into the evening. Complete with smoking area and outside terrace, it’s definitely one for the party pups amongst us who want to let go and have a boogie after a long day exploring the city.

  1. Bay Horse Tavern

This bar feels like home. With fireplaces and cosy nooks, you’ll find everything you want in a watering hole to curl up in at the end of the day. That goes for your dog too – who will find a cosy spot by the fire and a pan of water to hand on arrival.

Whether you’re looking for a casual drink, or want to arrange a get together with friends, this place is one of the best  to grab a drink with your dog in Manchester. Plus, if you’re hungry you can expect some delicious pub grub like pies, gammon and egg, and fish and chips to satisfy your hunger after a day on your feet.

It’s the perfect place to rock up to with your dog after a long walk, and with a selection of craft beers and some impressive canned beer too, you’ll be smitten with this local bar in no time.

  1. The Liquor Store

The Liquor Store is one of the most dog-friendly bars in Manchester. The guys at the liquor store love to create cocktails to your taste, and provide snacks and water for your furry mates too.

There’s definitely a party vibe to this bar, so it’s not for the more shy pups amongst us. However, if you’ve got a sociable dog who loves to get amongst it then this is the perfect dog-friendly bar for you. Plus, if you’re into your sports, this is also a great place to soak up the Mancunian vibe and enjoy a beer or two in front of the big screen.

Although there are subtle nods towards American bar culture, this place is full of Mancunian spirit. You’ll find celebrations of Mancunian icons gracing the walls, with pictures of Noel and Liam Gallagher, The Bee Gees and Morrissey that prove that this bar is every inch the indie, rock‘n’roll hang out.

  1. No1 Canal Street

If you want to take your best buddy for a classy drink, then No1 Canal Street is a great place to watch the world go by with an espresso martini in hand. This low key cocktail bar features a stunning interior with exposed brick and vintage, wooden furniture. You’ll feel very at home as you indulge in a bevvie or two with your four-legged friend.

The staff are so friendly here, and are super accommodating to those with paws. They even let them snuggle on the seats and in all areas of the bar so they don’t miss any of the action. We love their carefree attitude to letting dogs roam free, and the fact that they always offer water and cuddles (to dogs, that is!) make us love them even more.

Plus, if you’re feeling peckish after a long day of exploring Manchester, the food here is to die for. Think proper Manchester foodie fare – not pretentious but equally made with the best ingredients. Seared scallops, sea bream, chateaubriand – you name it, these guys have got it. With an ever changing specials menu and knowledgeable wait staff who are always willing to help you pick, you might find that you end up enjoying No1 Canal Street for more than just a tipple!

  1. Black Dog Ballroom

Located within the Northern Quarter, this NY style bar, diner and pool hall is completely dog-friendly and is a great place to hang out with your best pal. With amazing food (try the wings!) and great drinks, you can spend hours in this place just playing pool and enjoying the chilled out vibe with your dog.

On Wednesdays pool games are free when you buy a drink, so why not get the gang together and bring your dogs to socialise too? They also do a bottomless brunch on weekends from 12-4pm, so if you enjoy a tipple or two you can enjoy a great day out with your dog and some friends.

This dog-friendly Manchester bar has everything you need to enjoy a great night out, dog in tow. Plus, with loads of amazing offers like 50% off food on Mondays and two for one pizza on Tuesdays, you can’t go wrong with dropping into this bar for a casual bite to eat too!
