Whether you’re looking for a chilled Sunday brunch spot, or a coffee joint to give you a caffeine fix on the morning dog walk, Liverpool is full of cafes that allow dogs.
In fact, if you’re planning the perfect day out with your four-legged friend, then Liverpool can be a very dog-friendly place. When it comes to dog-friendly cafes, Liverpool has its fair share, so take a look at our top picks to enjoy with your dog.
1. Cafe Tabac
Address: 126 Bold St, L1 4JA
Telephone: 0151 709 9502
Reservations: Optional
Price range: £
Recommended dish: Pancakes
Cafe Tabac is one of our favourite dog-friendly cafes in Liverpool, because of its bohemian style and creative flair. It’s traditionally been popular for attracting colourful clientele such as artists, actors, singers and performers as well as locals who come for the amazing breakfasts that are served all day.
The cafe is the ideal spot to rest your legs after a long day of exploring the city with your dog, and has a legendary status in the city of Liverpool. In fact, rumour has it that Cafe Tabac is the longest running cafe in Liverpool, so it’s definitely worth the visit if you get a chance.
Your dog will be treated to a biscuit and some fresh water if you ask nicely, and they are very likely to be made a fuss of by the welcoming staff. This cafe is known for being extra friendly and having a local, free spirited vibe that makes it the perfect pitstop with your dog. Be sure to check out the marshmallow topped hot chocolate on a rainy day too!
2. Moose Coffee

If you’re looking for amazing coffee and delicious breakfasts that will keep you going for a full day of sightseeing, then Moose Cafe is the place for you. This dog-friendly cafe is Liverpool’s answer to American breakfast culture.

One thing to be aware of before visiting Moose Cafe is that during extra busy periods it can be hard to find dog-friendly zones in their tight space. We recommend calling ahead if you hope to bring your dog to Moose, and they will always do their best to accommodate furry friends.

With a secret garden out the back that is perfect for your furry mate, you’ll find Caz’s Kitchen a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the Liverpool streets. This is a fully independent cafe that is run by Caz herself, a Liverpudlian who is passionate about “proper” cake. She says “Good food is good for the soul and a well-deserved treat (not a chemical cake from the supermarkets) is a beautiful thing”. We couldn’t agree more!
7. Bundobust
Address: 17-19 Bold St, L1 4DN
Telephone: 0151 705 1688
Reservations: Optional
Price range: £
Recommended dish: Bundo chaat
Somewhere between a cafe/ bar/ Indian street food restaurant, this dog-friendly Liverpool cafe has it all. You’ll find great coffee and beer, Indian street food, and a delicious vegan and vegetarian menu that has put this place on the map. The best bit? They love dogs just as much as we do!
When you arrive, your dog will be treated to some fresh water in one of their signature Bundobust bowls. Although the food is amazing for humans, remember that dogs don’t like spice so try not to throw them any scraps from your plate as hard as that may be. Who can resist puppy dog eyes?!
The casual nature of the place means that they allow dogs to come and enjoy the ambience until the evening, and there’s enough space for your dog to chill out and roam freely after a long day. A great place to stop for a bite with your pup.
8. Neighbourhood Bistro & Bar
Address: 261 Woolton Rd, L16 8NA
Telephone: 0141 550 0135
Reservations: Optional
Price range: £
Recommended dish: Avocado and feta eggs
We love this dog-friendly bistro set in Childwall’s leafy suburb a little to the East of the city centre. You find a chilled out, wooden aesthetic inside the cafe, filled with local fare, eclectic books and antiques.
The food is rustic and home made and they regularly refuel the local yummy mummies and celebrities who live close by. If you fancy a delicious brunch or long lunch, this is the perfect location to meet a friend and their dog.
We love that they also do new recipe tasting and fun events for the community to get involved with- like the Hood book club and new mummy meetings. They also have seasonal gatherings that dogs are invited to too, so it’s a really local community hotspot. One to visit if you want to experience the way the locals do things.
9. Bold Street Coffee
Address: 89 Bold St, L1 4HF
Telephone: 0141 550 0135
Reservations: Optional
Price range: £
Recommended dish: French toast
Famed as Liverpool’s best speciality coffee shop, Bold Street Coffee is a great spot for soaking up the local atmosphere and feeling like a true Liverpudlian. Home to a creative community, you’ll find records and artwork scattered around the coffee shop that make it truly unique. The staff are very friendly and they love dogs – they’ll even bring you a fresh water bowl when you walk in with your pooch.
The fact that it’s dog-friendly only adds to its charm. The coffee is one of the must-tries of the Liverpool coffee scene (and some would even say the UK coffee scene!) so it’s a real treat for anyone who knows a thing or two about coffee.
