Pet care experience
Local, Reliable Petsitter
Animals have been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. Raised on a farm and on a pre-vet track from a young age, I’ve spent decades caring for animals of all kinds—from house pets to livestock to wildlife. Starting at 14, I volunteered in local vet clinics and wildlife rehab centers, gaining hands-on experience with everything from cats and dogs to peacocks, horses, goats, snakes, fish, birds, and cattle. At UC Davis, I deepened my care skills while working at the world-renowned Vet Hospital, tending to cats and dogs during the swing shift. I also worked with campus goats, pigs, sheep, fish, cattle, and horses—and even fostered cats for the hospital. Now in my 30s, I’m an education professional and dedicated pet mom to both cats and dogs. I continue to care for friends’ and neighbors’ pets with the same compassion, attention, and responsibility that’s guided me my whole life. I’m certified in Cat & Dog CPR & First Aid, and Infant, Child, and Adult CPR/AED/First Aid, and have emergency care experience with animals large and small. I’m calm under pressure, reliable, and always communicate clearly—your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities.

Lily had a great time.

We cannot recommend Zia highly enough! Our dog loves her, and we felt completely at ease leaving him with her.
Hands down, amazing! I had to make a last minute booking as the first one and she was extremely prompt with communication. She took great care of my pretty demanding dog and made me feel comfortable leaving him without worries. Would absolutely recommend her and her family!

Humphrey is part of the family and it’s so hard leaving him behind when we go away. Nothing feels better than to see him with people who care about him. From the communication and pictures it was obvious Humphrey had become a member of Zia’s family. From the original arrangement communication was clear and Zia asked all the right questions to understand Humphrey’s needs and habits. We would request Zia again with absolutely zero hesitation!

Zia is great. Her and her family took great care of our two fur babies... With her background exposure of animal science? she is more than capable to care for your loved animal-family! She also gave me some helpful tips to possibly help our dogs that pull on the leash. Thank you!

Zia has years of experience caring for a wide range of animals. As an undergraduate of UCD, she helped care for domestic and farm animals, in the hospital and on the farm including cats, dogs, cows, sheep, goats and many other species too numerous to list here. She is trustworthy, knowledgeable and will provide safe, loving care for your beloved pet as she has over the years for our pets. I write this testimonial on her behalf without reservation.

Schedule
I'm currently taking a break from teaching, and being a full-time stay-at-home mama to my 2.5 year old daughter. I have plenty of time to care for your furry family member. Please note that at this time, we are seeking families whose pets are comfortable around toddlers and children.
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I have a fully fenced yard, and a park just around the corner from my house for those whose furry friends enjoy a stretch, walk, or playtime! I am comfortable using a crate, and we have plenty of floor room in the house (carpet and laminate) for them to lay down if they're not crate trained. We do not allow dogs on the furniture. Cats are allowed to wander the house. We are more than happy to put up child gates to keep your furry family member in certain areas of the house if they're prone to getting into things (such as stuffed animals for the kiddos... I mean really, a lot of doggie toys these days look so similar! I'd understand the misconception. lol) We're not afraid to be firm but kind if your family member needs set boundaries.
A typical day
I love keeping your furry family members engaged through fun, enriching activities! Whether it’s playing with toys, going for neighborhood walks, visiting the park, or heading out on a light hike, I tailor each activity to your pet’s energy level and preferences. We're an outdoorsy household, so if your pup loves fresh air and adventure, they’ll feel right at home. For pets who prefer a quieter pace, I also provide a calm, cozy environment with plenty of snuggles and gentle attention. Whether they’re high-energy explorers or mellow cuddlers, your pets will get the care and companionship they need.
