Reliable & Caring Psychologist

About me: Hi! I’m Sydney, 35 years old, and I’m a doctor of clinical psychology. I love my therapist job and I also love spending time with people’s pets in my spare time. Please read my profile for availability information. 🐶 🐱 For boarding (your pet stays in my home): I am only offering boarding the following dates: Monday August 31st- Thursday September 3rd, and Tuesday September 8th-Sunday September 13th. The reasoning for this is that we typically have 2 dogs, one of which does not do well around other dogs. Our 2 dogs will not be in our home those 2 weeks, thus we are opening up our home for boarding. Upon booking, please verify with me if other owner’s dogs will be in the home, as I may take more than 1 booking at a time with owner approval if all pets get along. 🐶 For walking: I offer walks in the spring, summer, and fall. I do not offer walks in the winter. 🐶 🐱 For sitting (I stay in your home): I accept regular customers and new customers throughout the year. I’ve worked on Rover and Wag for over 6 years and I have a 5 star review. My first job was at a humane society for 2 years, so I’m familiar with all kinds of breeds and ages of dogs. I’ve also worked at a zoo, so I’m experienced with caring for all sorts of animals. I volunteered at KC Pet Project for a year helping foster dogs to get them out of their kennels to destress. I’ve watched my professors’ and friends’ dogs, and lots of my past roommate's dogs. Being a psychologist, I do know how to dog train if you’re interested in that (positive reinforcement, teaching tricks, crate training, potty training, agility training, clicker training). I’ve done agility with my Dalmatian Shelby (lives with my parents). I would love to watch and care for your pup! I promise to give them lots of pets and to send you photos of how they’re doing. If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

Sydney was fabulous. She was attentive when we met, and enthusiastic about treating our dog like a family member. She was wonderful keeping us in touch with how things were going back home, sending photos and short messages. She was very tuned in to the whole emotional aspect of what it's like to leave your beloved pet behind when you travel. We can not recommend her highly enough.

Sydney was a great sitter choice for our pup. She took great care of him when we traveled out of the country for a family vacation. She sent regular updates and it was clear that our dog was completely comfortable with her in our home. We will definitely have her stay with him again in the future!!!

Sydney is simply incredible. We have wonderful, 13 year old lab that is our love. She took amazing care of him, and kept us informed of everything going on we love getting her notes while we’re away. Thanks can’t express our appreciation enough, but I guess they will have to do. THANK YOU Sydney.

Again, Sydney, you were amazing and wonderful with our big boy, Ollie. You kept us well informed about what he’s doing and addressed issues in a very professional and responsive manner. We are so confident in you that traveling is no longer a worry for us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We had Sydney stay with Kaia, our 12.5-year-old dog, for the second time while we were away for the weekend, and once again, she did an amazing job! Not only did she take fantastic care of Kaia, but she also left our house spotless, kept everything neat and tidy, and brought in packages and the mail. We're so happy with Sydney's service and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a reliable, caring pet sitter. We'll definitely be using her again!

Schedule

My schedule: I am a full-time clinical psychologist (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.). I work in Chelmsford and live in Maynard, so locations nearby or in between those towns are preferred. If putting a request in for house sitting, please let me know if your pet is okay staying alone about 8 hours on a work day. I promise to leave your pup with a bone and/or toy so they are comfortable being alone that long. Let me know if you usually crate them or leave them free roaming. I can let them outside right before I leave for work. And I can play with them/keep them company/wear them out in the evenings and spend lots of time in the evenings with them. I will spoil them like I spoil my own 🥰 Weekends are generally wide open, unless I'm out of town (refer to my calendar). If you have any questions about my schedule, feel free to ask, as it can fluctuate depending on my patient caseload. I would love to spend my extra time playing with your pet and keeping them company while you are away.

Safety, trust & environment

My home (if you choose boarding or doggy day care): My husband and I live in a duplex in Maynard. We do have a yard-it backs up to the Assabet River, and the sides are fenced in but the back is not. If your pet needs to be let out on a leash, let me know. We have 2 pets- a German Shepherd (female) and Australian cattle mix (male). They are well socialized and friendly goobers, but do still have their preferences. So I would recommend we can do a meet and greet with both my pets and yours prior to booking to make sure they get along. If they do, your pet will have 2 great play mates, while still getting lots of one-on-one attention from me. I can let them outside several times a day. Keep in mind that I can stay at your house or apartment as well! I also have toys and dog treats here. I’m happy to accommodate! I spoil my dogs and my parents' and friends' dogs, so I'll spoil yours too :)

Pets

A typical day

Your pup can be walked around my neighborhood, or a nearby park. They can play inside. They can watch TV and nap on the couch. If they know any tricks, I can practice their tricks with them and give them lots of treats :) They can go to a nearby dog park (only if you’re comfortable with that of course). If they’re used to car rides, I don’t mind having dogs in my car.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
Spayed and neutered dogs only

Sydney can host up to 5 pets per night
I’d like to know what a typical day looks like for them, when they are used to eating and how much, any medications they’re taking, how they do on a walk, what their favorite thing to do with you is. I welcome all breeds!
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
