I currently work remotely part-time, which allows me to maintain a very flexible schedule for pet care. I am available for dog walking, drop-in visits, house sitting, pet sitting, and plant care throughout the week. While I am not able to provide boarding in my own home, I am happy to provide overnight care in your home so your pets can remain comfortable in their familiar environment.

I prioritize safety, trust, and consistency by carefully following each client’s instructions and keeping pets in their familiar routines as much as possible. In a client’s home, I make sure doors, gates, leashes, food, medications, and household rules are handled with care. I also pay close attention to each pet’s body language, comfort level, and behavior, and I provide calm, respectful care that helps them feel secure while their owner is away.

Before caring for a pet, I like to know as much as possible about their normal routine, personality, and any special needs. Helpful details include feeding instructions, potty habits, favorite toys or activities, leash behavior, medications, allergies, fears, triggers, and how they usually respond to new people or other animals. I also appreciate knowing any house rules, emergency contacts, and veterinary information so I can keep each pet as safe, comfortable, and stress-free as possible.
A typical day
I’m happy to tailor activities to each pet’s personality, energy level, and normal routine. For dogs, this may include walks, playtime with favorite toys, backyard time, or just relaxing together. For lower-energy pets, seniors, or cats, I’m also very happy to provide calm companionship, cuddles if they want them, and cozy TV time so they feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away.

My pet care experience goes far beyond simply loving animals. I have cared for cats, dogs, fish, horses, small mammals, and wildlife, and I recently earned my M.S. in Wildlife Science. I have worked as a dog walker, a pet/house/plant sitter, an animal research technician caring for mice, rats, rabbits, and dogs, and as a veterinary assistant at a cat and dog vaccine clinic. I also have experience drawing blood and administering medication to a variety of domestic and wildlife animals, so I’m comfortable following detailed care instructions and paying close attention to each animal’s needs. I am very much a cat person, too, and I understand that cats have different needs than dogs, including patience, quiet companionship, respect for boundaries, and careful attention to subtle changes in behavior. I am patient, reliable, and attentive to animal behavior, and I enjoy helping pets feel safe, whether they need a good walk, playtime, calm companionship, or plenty of cuddles.

Sara did a great job with drop-in visits for our 2 cats. She even was able to get close to our timid boy which is a special thing, she has a good vibe about her. And she comes with a knowledge of all kinds of animals. Would definitely rebook her in the future!
I am so glad we found Sara here on Rover. Our dog got along with her right away so we knew she was the right person for the job. Going on vacation and leaving your pet behind is always stressful but knowing Sara would be here to watch our dog with the experience and care she brings made that process much easier on us. I highly recommend her. We will definitely look to hire her again in the future!
Sara has literally helped me to finally be able to leave my home and travel!!! If it weren't for Sara, I couldn't go away. She has given me the peace of mind I thought I'd never find when it comes to taking care of my fur babies. She is amazing! She stays in contact, sends me pictures, and keeps me up to date with what my babies are doing. She takes care of my house, even washing the sheets before she goes!!! I am speaking to all those people who are too afraid to go away-HIRE SARA!!!! For as long as Sara is available, I will be booking her to stay at my house and take care of my fur babies.
