Safety, trust & environment

Caring for someone's pet while they are away requires attention to detail, responsibility, and a genuine love for animals. Here are some essential steps I take to ensure proper pet care: 1. Initial Consultation: Meet with the pet owner before their departure to discuss their pet's routine, dietary requirements, medical needs, exercise preferences, and any behavioral quirks. Take notes and ask questions to gather all the necessary information. 2. Follow Established Routine: Stick as closely as possible to the pet's regular schedule. This includes feeding times, potty breaks, exercise routines, and any medication administration. Consistency helps reduce stress and keeps the pet comfortable. 3. Safe Environment: Ensure that the environment is safe and secure for the pet. Remove any hazards, secure gates, and check for any toxic plants, chemicals, or small objects that could be dangerous if ingested. 4. Feeding and Hydration: Follow the feeding instructions provided by the owner, including the type of food, portion sizes, and any dietary restrictions. Always provide fresh water and clean bowls. 5. Exercise and Playtime: Engage in regular exercise and play sessions according to the pet's needs. Take dogs for walks, play with interactive toys, or engage in other activities to keep them mentally and physically stimulated. 6. Bathroom Breaks: Regularly take dogs outside for bathroom breaks and clean up after them. For cats, ensure litter boxes are kept clean and accessible. 7. Medication and Health Care: If the pet requires medication, follow the instructions provided by the owner precisely. Monitor their health and behavior for any signs of illness or discomfort and contact the owner or a veterinarian if needed. 8. Companionship and Affection: Offer companionship, love, and attention to the pet during their owner's absence. Spend quality time with them and provide comfort. 9. Communication: Maintain open and regular communication with the pet owner. Provide updates on their pet's well-being, including photos and messages, to keep them informed and reassured. 10. Emergency Preparedness: Have emergency contact information for the pet owner, their veterinarian, and a backup contact if necessary. Familiarize yourself with any emergency procedures or specific instructions in case of unforeseen situations.

Rachel was amazing with my two cats. She gave them plenty of love and made effort to make sure they were comfortable with her. They were very well taken care of, thank you Rachel!

Couldn't recommend Rachel highly enough! She took great care of my cat whilst I was away and kept in touch the whole time, had absolutely zero issues at all. She went above and beyond with things I needed help with. She made sure she was fed, had fresh water, played with her, spent time with her, and kept everything clean each day. It was clear she genuinely cared and treated her really well. If you're looking for someone reliable and thoughtful to look after your cat (or any pet) l'd definitely recommend Rachel.

Rachel is the very best! She took wonderful care of Bentley while we were away for our son's wedding. We didn't have a worry in the world knowing Bentley was in her hands Rachel gave us frequent updates with photos and was quick to respond when we reached out to check on him. We will certainly be calling Rachel again in the future. She is wonderful!
