I also work as a freelance photographer, meaning that a lot of my work can be done from home (or your home!) while sitting, and gives me flexibility to fit lots of walks in.

Before taking on any clients, we'll meet up in person so that your dog can be introduced to me. I will always listen to clients as to what their dogs need, and understand that some dogs need more and/or slower introductions than others. *** I only use positive reinforcement! *** I work with owners to tailor their dogs' care around specific needs — and am very understanding about things like reactivity towards other dogs, people, or other elements. I am experienced and confident walking dogs who are muzzled, and know that muzzled dogs are good dogs! Dogs will always be kept on a lead until I am fully confident in their recall — and would only ever be let off the lead in an appropriate area and with an owner's full permission, and with use of a long line first. I carry a spare lead at all times in case of the rare instance of a collar, lead, or harness malfunctioning.
Information Polly T. would like to know about your pet
Tell me as much as you'd like, there is never too much information from my perspective! * Any useful routines for things like the beginning or end of walks, bed / crate time, whether they can have treats and if there are any restrictions on what type etc. * Any reactivity (towards dogs, people, traffic, etc) or other behavioural issues to be aware of, and the training plan you have in place. I only use positive reinforcement. * Any medical or dietary issues. * Whether or not your dog can be off-lead (this would only happen once I am confident in their recall, and I will always have them on a long line for a while first to build up to that).
A typical day
I tailor each walk to your dog'(s) needs, whether that is a slow and steady sniff around the neighbourhood, or a more high energy explore of the countryside or parks. If appropriate for your dog, I include basic enrichment like scattering treats in long grass for them to sniff out, and can include playtime with toys/balls if appropriate!

Pet care experience
Animals are my world. My family has had dogs since I was a teenager, and although I don't have any of my own, I am a regular volunteer at Cardiff Dogs Home. There I have experience with dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities, and we work with each dog's individual needs to make sure that they get the type of walk or play session best suited to them. I also fostered a 7 month old collie cross for a couple of months to give her a break from kennels and get her ready for her forever home with basic training, and am still in contact with her new parents and get lovely updates. I have two cats, Poppy & Bluebell, who I adopted as kittens from All Creatures Great & Small rescue. As a teenager, I spent every minute of my free time at my local stables, and looked after a pony on an arrangement with his owner. I also regularly got to go and see him in his retirement in the Brecon Beacons.
Reviews
Polly is an experienced and dependable dog sitter and dog walker. She knows how to ensure my dog stays safe and has great experience with dealing with reactive dogs. She genuinely loves caring for them and i’d always trust her with my pup.
Polly is a wonderful dog walker, she is great with dogs of all shapes and sizes and is skilled at walking reactive dogs too. She has good knowledge of canine behaviour and enrichment which is perfect for all the dogs in her care as their walk can be tailored to their exact needs. Couldn’t reccomend her enough - 10/10!!
Polly is amazing with our boy and he loves her to bits -which gives us peace of mind. Polly is reliable and trustworthy and we feel comfortable having her in our home.
Polly is a fellow dog walker at Cardiff Dogs Home, where we both volunteer. She is a confident and capable handler who can manage a wide range of breeds and temperaments. Polly is extremely knowledgeable about dog behaviour and welfare, having attended numerous training courses at Cardiff Dogs Home. As a dog walker myself, I highly recommend Polly and am always happy to pass on her details. She is reliable, trustworthy, and deeply caring, with a genuine love for dogs (and all animals). Personally, I wouldn’t leave my dog with anyone but Polly. I know that dogs in her care are always safe, happy, and mentally stimulated, with walks tailored to their individual needs. Polly consistently goes above and beyond and is a firm favourite with both the dogs and the team at the home.
