I grew up training dogs for obedience, showmanship, and agility shows. During this time, I gained experience working with puppies, adult, and elderly dogs. In more recent years, I have walked dogs and done both house/dog sitting and drop-in dog sitting. From these experiences and from taking care of my own sensitive dog and cat, I have become skilled at tuning into the specific needs of pets to identify how I can help them be more comfortable. I strive to meet their needs beyond the basics of food and water by paying attention to their behavioral cues--do they need attention? play? calm energy to help them bring their own energy levels down? movement? other mental stimulation? I strive to figure out what will help them feel more comfortable at a time when animals are often a little out of sorts due to their usual people being away. I am also able to do cat care, ranging from drop-in to house sitting. I have a cat of my own and am well versed in following specific guidelines--we all know cats can be particular!

I am not currently taking dogs into my own place. When dropping in or house sitting, I take care to ensure there are no opportunities for a dog to get loose by paying attention to closing doors and fence gates and having a dog leashed up before transitioning into another space (from inside to outside or from yard to sidewalk). I err on the side of caution and avoid encounters with other animals while walking with dogs I'm caring for. I am mindful of each animal's particular needs and set them up for success by acting in accordance with those needs.

Neak did a wonderful job sitting with our dogs while we were staying at Best Friends Roadhouse in Kanab. She was flexible about the timing of everything and her help enabled us to have lots of time to explore Kanab while she took good care of our pups. We really appreciated her help.
Danica was terrific! Very trustworthy and reliable - we had her pick up our pup Kennedy for a walk while we were out at Zion. From the pictures, I could tell Kennedy had a great time on her walk. Would recommend Danica to anybody in the Kanab area looking for a reliable person to care for your pet while you go on not-so-dog-friendly adventures!

Danica was amazing. She was really flexible and easy with scheduling which helped us really enjoy our day in Zion NP. Her dog Ponder is friendly, and he and our dog, Cajun, played really well, I think. I would definitely trust her with our dog anytime, and I know Cajun wants another playdate with Ponder. (She also had great hiking recommendations for the Kanab area).
She answered to the very late minute booking so I very much appreciated that.
Danica was absolutely fantastic from the communicator pre-trip to the actual stay, she kept us informed on Kensie all day long with texts and photos. She drove over an hour to care for Kensie while we toured antelope canyon and hiked at Amangiri. She is smart, intelligent and kind. We look forward to riveting with Danica again very soon. She is the best!!!

Schedule
Currently my work is primarily remote and a mixture of contracted roles, so my schedule tends to be pretty flexible. This means I can often work from a dogsitting location and/or be able to only have a few hours away at a time if needed.
