Hazel’s Play and Stay

Hi, I’m Nancy, and I would love to care for your puppy pal. I offer experienced, dog care for short and long term needs, including vacations, workdays, errands, and holidays. Flexible weekly schedules are available, including early mornings and later pickups. Emergency care may be possible depending on availability. My home and yard are fully fenced, puppy proofed, and designed for small breeds and young dogs. There is age and size appropriate play equipment, and a splash pad outside for warm days. All new care begins with a meet and greet so we can make sure we are a great fit and review your dog’s routine and needs. Just like children, young dogs benefit from regular socialization, supervision, and early learning. Dogs who have positive, structured play experiences often grow into happier, more confident, and easier to manage adults. Your pup will spend time with my two friendly dogs, Jack, a playful youngster, Hazel, my calm senior gal. They help visiting dogs learn polite play, turn taking, and self regulation in a safe, guided setting. What you and your puppy pal can expect: Your pup will receive lots of love, supervision, and individual attention. They are free to roam in a comfortable home setting, not confined to kennels or crowded playrooms. Daily activities are based on your dog’s personality and energy level, including free play time, fetch or tug, snuggle and quiet time, simple manners (sit/stay) and treats, always supervised outdoor time. I send regular updates, photos, and videos so you can relax knowing your dog is happy and safe. Many parents report their dogs come home calm, confident, and content. Overnight stays Because being away from home can be stressful, I often recommend a daycare visit or trial overnight for new boarding dogs. This helps your dog feel comfortable here and allows me to learn their routines before a longer stay. For safety and privacy, we do not tour my personal living areas during meet and greets. Extras Bathing and light sanitary trims may be available for an additional fee so your pup goes home clean and fresh. I am certified in canine first aid for extra peace of mind. Requirements To keep everyone safe and healthy • Adult dogs must be spayed or neutered • Vaccinations must be current within the past two years • Collars must have identification tags • You may be asked to complete a care information form Dogs with special needs and young puppies may be accommodated with an additional surcharge. For smooth transitions, please message me when you are on your way at drop off so I can be ready for your arrival. Located in Lower Mission / South Pandosy. I look forward to meeting you and your adorable pup.

Nancy did a great job looking after Lucy. She sent regular updates and pictures and videos. Lucy was very calm when I picked her up and enjoyed playing with Nancy’s other dogs. I highly recommend Nancy soft and caring manner. I hope to use Nancy’s dogsitting services again soon.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Kelowna and needed a sitter for the day for our puppy Millie. Nancy has a great outdoor play area for the pups and Millie looked so happy in the videos she sent us while playing with her puppy, Jack. Nancy was very responsive and sent us regular updates. She was awesome to work with. We will be using her again for future visits to the area.

Safety, trust & environment

I am on the premises to supervise all activities to ensure your pal is engaged and safe. I will ask you what your pup’s normal routine is. Indoor and outdoor activities can include fetch, chase, supervised toys-chewing, and basic good-manners training (sit, stay, lie down). I can incorporate crate training, or your other customized requirements into a care plan.

Pets

A typical day

Depending on what your puppy pal is accustomed to, taking into consideration age, breed, temperament and special needs, we take 4 potty breaks throughout the day. Pee pads are provided if necessary. In the early morning and after-meal break, we have an extended “sniffy walk” to catch up on the “news” and encourage elimination. Indoors, I provide stimulation with safe games and toys and cuddling, with lots of rest in between.

0 to 15 lbs
Spayed and neutered dogs only
No females in heat
Takes only 1 client at a time
Nancy can host up to 1 pet per night
I need to know your dog’s routine including all their meal-time preparation. Matching it closely will help settle your dog so they eat - and more importantly - stay hydrated. Smaller, older dogs can become dehydrated easily, leading to complications, so establishing their schedule is most important. A short prep “stay” in advance of your trip may be necessary if your dog experiences anxiety, in order to prepare them for a longer stay.
