Working from home allows me to be around throughout most of the day, which naturally makes dog care part of my everyday routine. Between walks, outdoor time, play sessions, feeding schedules, and lots of attention throughout the day, dogs here get plenty of companionship, supervision, and interaction in a calm home environment. I’ve spent nearly 10 years caring for dogs through Rover, along with a lifetime of experience owning and working with active, intelligent breeds. My own dog, Keegan, has always been a huge part of my daily lifestyle, so maintaining a structured, dog-friendly environment simply feels natural here. Most days include walks around the Westshore Marina Loop, outdoor time at our private fenced dog park, and a healthy balance of activity and downtime depending on each dog’s personality and energy level. Because I intentionally only host one guest dog at a time, I’m able to provide a more personalized and lower-stress environment with plenty of attention, communication, photo updates, and one-on-one care throughout each stay. Whether your dog enjoys being active, going on walks, relaxing on the couch, or simply being around people, my goal is always to help them feel safe, comfortable, and at home while you’re away.

Michael’s Perspective: Dogs in my care get plenty of exercise, outdoor time, attention, and affection throughout the day. Most days include multiple walks around the Westshore Marina Loop, play sessions at our private fenced dog park, and a healthy balance of activity and relaxation depending on each dog’s personality and energy level. I pay close attention to every dog’s individual routine and comfort level, whether that means extra walks, structured playtime, medication schedules, specific feeding instructions, or simply extra couch time and companionship. My goal is always to create a calm, safe, and comfortable environment where dogs genuinely feel at home. Most dogs are fed twice daily unless their owners have a different schedule or specific instructions, and I’m always happy to accommodate routines that help your dog feel more comfortable during their stay. Keegan’s Paw-spective: Hi again — Keegan here! 🐾 Life here is pretty great if you ask me. We go on lots of walks, spend time outside every day, and there’s always a cozy place to relax after playtime. Michael makes sure everyone feels comfortable, safe, and included, whether your pup loves being active or just wants a calm place to hang out and get some extra attention. I love making new friends, and I can’t wait to meet your dog too!

Pet care experience
Welcome! I’m Michael — a lifelong dog lover, experienced Rover sitter of nearly 10 years, and proud dog dad to my border collie, Keegan. 🐾 For those of you in the Greater Tampa Bay area who may have used me in the past, Keegan and I are excited to officially begin welcoming dogs again starting in June after taking an unexpected break from Rover due to changes in pet policies at my previous apartment community. Over the years, I’ve cared for hundreds of dogs of all sizes, breeds, personalities, and energy levels — especially active and intelligent breeds. I grew up around working dogs and have extensive experience with obedience, agility, structure, behavior management, and high-energy dogs that need both physical exercise and mental stimulation. Keegan himself competed in agility and flyball, so dogs here get plenty of activity, engagement, structure, and attention throughout the day. Recently, Keegan underwent major life-saving surgery, and reopening Rover has become an incredibly meaningful part of helping support his recovery and ongoing care. Every single booking through Rover goes directly toward Keegan’s medical expenses, recovery, and continued care. We recently moved to the Westshore Marina District in Tampa, and it’s an incredible environment for dogs. Our community features beautiful walking paths, green space, and a private fenced-in dog park located just steps from my front door — perfect for safe play, exercise, sniff walks, and plenty of outdoor time throughout the day. I work from home full-time, which means dogs in my care receive constant supervision, frequent walks and potty breaks, lots of companionship, and personalized attention. I also send frequent updates, photos, and videos because I know how important peace of mind is when you’re away from your dog. At this stage, I intentionally limit care to one guest dog at a time (in addition to Keegan). This allows me to provide a calmer, safer, more personalized environment while also making sure every dog in the home is comfortable and receives my full attention. Because of this, guest dogs do need to be friendly, social, and comfortable around other dogs. Our home is fully stocked with extra dog beds, blankets, bowls, gates, toys, and everything needed to help dogs feel comfortable and relaxed. Most families only need to bring food/Treats, leash/collar, medications if needed, and any favorite comfort items from home. More than anything, I genuinely love dogs and treat them like family. Whether your dog is highly active, loves long walks, enjoys structured play, or simply wants a calm and loving environment while you’re away, my goal is always to make them feel safe, happy, and cared for like one of my own. Keegan and I can’t wait to meet you and your pup. ❤️
Reviews
Michael D. cancelled a booking 1 day before it was scheduled to begin.

Michael did an amazing job with Emma she looked so happy in all her pictures. This is the first time Emma really ate while staying with a sitter and she settled right back in at home. I know my aging pup had the best vacation!

First time using Mike and he was great with my dog. He updated me daily including pics, highly recommend !

Excellent dog sitter! Michael provided daily updates with pictures!
