Pet care is an important part of my week, and I make sure to set aside dedicated time when I can be fully present and attentive with your animals. Dedicated Pet‑Care Days: - Sundays: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM - Mondays: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM - Tuesdays: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - Thursdays: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM These are the days when I can focus entirely on your pets — keeping them comfortable, following their routines, and giving them the same gentle, family‑style care I give my own animals. If you need Pet-Care on different days or times, message me and I'll see if I can fit you in. I volunteer at Midwest Pet Refuge 3 days a week. Those days are dedicated to rescue work, so I typically don’t take on additional pet‑sitting during those times. Between my volunteer work, home life, and my scheduled pet‑sitting days, animals are at the heart of my weekly routine. The structure helps me stay reliable, consistent, and fully available for the pets in my care.

I care for pets in their own home where they feel safest. I treat every animal like family — following their routines, giving them attention the way they like it, and keeping their space clean and comfortable. I’m gentle, patient, and attentive, especially with shy or sensitive pets, and I always make sure they feel loved and safe while you’re away.

Information Melissa A. would like to know about your pet

Could you let me know a few things about your pets and their routine? Things like feeding schedules, favorite activities, any quirks, and anything that helps them feel safe and comfortable. I want to make sure I’m stepping into their routine smoothly.

A typical day

Core care during the visit I start by checking food and water for everyone, refreshing bowls or bottles so everything is clean and full. Dogs get a potty break and a little time in the fenced yard or a quick indoor play session. I also pick up any poop while we’re outside. Cats get their litter box scooped right away so their space feels clean and comfortable. Dog time Dogs get a short play session to break up their day — fetch, tug, or just some fun movement depending on their energy level. Afterward, we settle down for a few minutes of calm company before I move on to the next pet. Cat time Cats get interaction based on their mood. If they’re playful, we do a quick toy session. If they’d rather relax, I sit with them, offer gentle pets, and let them choose how much attention they want. Shy or sensitive cats get quiet companionship so they feel safe. Reptiles, small animals, and exotics For reptiles, and other small pets, I handle their care with the same calm, confident routine. That can include: - Checking heat and lighting to make sure everything is functioning properly - Refreshing water dishes - Offering food if it’s feeding day - Light spot‑cleaning of enclosures - Gentle handling only if the species and individual animal are comfortable with it I’m experienced with reptiles and small animals, so I’m comfortable following any specific routines or handling instructions you provide. Wrapping up the visit Before I leave, I double‑check water, tidy up anything that needs it, and make sure every pet — furry, scaly, or otherwise — is settled and comfortable. The goal is that they feel cared for, safe, and not alone during the day.

Pet care experience

Animals have been a huge part of my life since I was little - from dogs and cats to reptiles and small pets. For almost a year now, I've been a volunteer with Midwest Pet Refuge, working hands-on with cats and a variety of small animals. I've fostered cats for the past 8 months, including newborn kittens who needed bottle-feeding from just a day old. I also have experience with rats, bunnies, guinea pigs, reptiles, and dogs, so I'm comfortable caring for pets with all kinds of personalities and needs. I'm patient, gentle, and genuinely love getting to know each animal as an individual. When I'm caring for your pets, they'll be treated like family - safe, loved, and cared for with experience you can trust.
