Dogsitter for walks & cuddles!
Hey dog parents! Are you planning a trip or need some extra help with your furry friend? I'm available to dog-sit (in my home or yours) and dog walk! I bring my 10+ years of experience to give your dog the care that they deserve! What I Can Offer? Big Dogs -I am comfortable and experienced with large breeds. Special Needs - I am familiar and practised with dogs with medical conditions, including epilepsy, dementia, arthritis, and mobility challenges. High Demand - I have experience caring for ex-military dogs and understand the unique needs and routines of highly-trained dogs. Various Energy Levels - Whether your dog is a couch potato or a bundle of energy, I've got it covered! I have a calm and friendly (neutered male) Malinois/Podenco cross who loves making new friends. I have cared for dogs from a very young age, growing up on a farm with dogs around! I have experience with larger breeds, namely Malinois, Rottweilers, German Shephards and Ridgebacks. I’m confident with general care, basic medical care and training. Additionally, I have experience caring for cats and horses, and am able to provide food and company, and administer topical medication.

Safety, trust & environment
As I have all of the day at home I spend a lot of time walking them in the local parks, or taking them on little mountain hikes or beach walks (dependant on the season). I am extremely cautious of sandflies, processionary caterpillars, mosquitos and ticks, and understand the dangers of leishmania, so I tailor the walks to account for these potential dangers (e.g, no mountain hikes during caterpillar season), and ensure that dogs are frequently checked for ticks and fleas.

Melanie is AWESOME! I couldn't have taken care of Austin any better myself. I received photos every day, showing him to me on his daily walks. Melanie shared, and advised about his wellbeing. Melanie has been amazing with our two dogs! She communicates very well and sends pictures to keep us up to date on the walks. Oli and Kala seemed very happy and satisfied after they walked with Melanie.

Schedule
I work from home, remotely Monday-Friday, so am available for the dogs throughout the entire week. I walk my dog for around 2.5hrs during the day, and on weekends we tend to do longer walks, hikes, beach trips etc. For older, injured, mobility challenged or calmer dogs, I am able to provide a more relaxed walking schedule, with 10-20 minute walks frequently throughout the day, according to the dogs requirements. I will be the only person looking after the dog(s), although I sometimes join friends for dog walks (we will only do this if the dog is sociable, and with consent from the owner).
