Full Time Pet Caretaker

I’m an experienced petsitter and dog owner. After a decade of climbing the corporate ladder, I’ve recently made a pivot to doing things I actually enjoy. As such, I’m a full-time pet caretaker (and pilates instructor) and thus have a pretty flexible schedule. I’m home most of the day throughout the week. My household energy level is low-to-moderate. I have a pup (8yo chihuahua) and go on at least 3-4 walks per day but beyond that, we are mostly couch potatoes. I prefer to board dogs that are OK being crated while alone (3 hrs max) - however this isn’t a requirement as long as your pup does not display any destructive separation anxiety behaviors that could be harmful to itself or my home. In addition, your pup should be comfortable sharing the space with other dogs, as I may board 2-3 dogs at a time. Lastly, I live in a 2-story walk-up, so your pup would have to be able to climb stairs or be OK being carried up the stairs (<20 lbs). I have experience with basic command/crate/potty training. I’m also experienced with caring for senior and/or special-needs dogs (e.g. heart worms, seizures, arthritis). I’ve personally dealt with a number of these issues with my own dog.

Lucy helped me out with three walks this week on fairly short notice, and Frannie absolutely loved her! I was nervous to leave Frannie alone when I went to work this week because I just adopted her, but she was in great hands with Lucy :)

Lucy spoils Luna every time she sits for her! She is a great communicator and gives us such peace of mind every time Luna stays with her.

Lucy took really great care of my little guy! She was very communicative and I got plenty of adorable pics while he stayed with her. I felt really confident he was being well taken care of while I was out of town and will definitely reach out to Lucy again for someone safe to leave my little man with!

Schedule

I generally walk my dog, Rosie, 4x a day (9am, 2pm, 7pm, 11pm) for around 30 min per walk. Morning and evening meals are usually done after walks. I’m home almost all the time, so quite flexible in terms of availability. I may be out of the house for 3-4 hours at a time but always try my best to schedule my outings when my husband is home to keep an eye on the pups. While rare, there will still be occasions where your pup may be alone for a few hours.

Safety, trust & environment

For overnight boarding, I have a strict meet and greet requirement before potentially accepting a booking with a new client. This way, we can both see how your dog reacts to me and my dog, and I can assess whether your pup would do well under my care. While this requirement may prevent me from accepting very last minute bookings, it’s a necessary precaution for myself and the pups I’ve already made commitments to. Upon booking confirmation, I will send you my suggested packing list. At drop-off, I will meet you and your pup outside with Rosie and take them both on a quick stroll around the block before bringing them inside. I always make sure to clear my calendar for at least an hour after initial drop-off in order to help your pup settle into the new environment. During their stay with me, I will keep you updated with pictures and notes on their activities throughout the day. I will also keep you informed of any behavioral or GI concerns and will try my best to accommodate or correct any issues I come across. I take various precautions to avoid potential conflict among pups - different rooms for feeding, individualized walks, separate lounging locations, etc. No dog will ever be left alone with another unsupervised.

Pets

A typical day

For longer walks I like to go to nearby parks. There are quite a number close by me to chose from, such as Perry, Lincoln, Conway, and Nunziato parks. I can also help with basic command training (sit, touch, off, etc).
