Calm rural setting
I've had adopted dogs my entire life. In my teens and 20s I worked as a kennel attendant and vet assistant at a busy suburban veterinary clinic. In my 30s I started fostering and adopting senior and special needs dogs. This gave me a very strong understand of how to effectively manage a variety of medical challenges such as: congestive heart failure, chronic eye ulcers, IBD, luxating patella, blindness, anxiety, dog reactivity, resource guarding etc. While I am certainly not an expert, I've done a lot of obedience, behavioral and sport (scent, barn hunt) work with my own dogs. This has improved my ability to adjust and adapt to each dog's unique style. In addition to all of this, I worked for a global animal welfare organization for 13 years and developed a strong understanding of the biological needs of all animals with a specific focus on companion animals.

Josey was absolutely amazing! She spoiled our dog with lots of attention, enrichment of all kinds, and gave him a place he could feel at home. Our dog was so happy there! Could not have asked for a better dog sitter. Highly recommend!
Josey is wonderful! Very calm, caring, and confident with dogs, she definitely understands them well. And her backyard is a dream for any dog! Very happy with her care, and will be using her again :)
We couldn’t be happier with the process from start to finish- communication ++. It was our first time using Rover and Josey helped us throughout process. Her home is beyond the perfect setting for any lucky pooch who gets to stay here. Beautiful large fenced yard and plenty of options for play or rest. My dogs loved Josey and her calm confidence. Would recommend to anyone.
We had an excellent experience with our large guy’s stay at Josey’s. She answered all our questions before we even asked. We could tell Tasker had a lovely stay from the pictures and he came home happy and rested. In the past, at other places, he’s come home exhausted and needed a couple days to recover. Tasker’s stay could not have been smoother and Josey went above and beyond. Will definitely book again.
We were so happy with Oliver’s recent stay with Josey. Josey truly understands dogs, particularly labs, and ensured that her home environment was set up for Ollie to be successful. Her backyard is an oasis and Ollie enjoyed romping with other dog friends and relaxing under the shady trees. Josey sent daily updates with photos to reassure us that Ollie was enjoying his stay. We highly recommend Josey and look forward to booking with her again soon.
Five stars for Josey! Luna had an amazing time playing in the beautiful garden with Josey and Oscar. She came home completely exhausted from all the fun. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of her!

Schedule
I work from home so I will always be with your dog. If I am required to be out of the house they will be cared for by my very dog savvy parents who live on the property.

Safety, trust & environment
I live in a beautiful rural setting that is very quiet and calm. The property is approx. 1 acre, 3/4 of it is fully secured fencing suitable for even the smallest dog. Your dog will have free, supervised access to the house and to the yard which has extensive gardens. If it's appropriate they will be walked daily - the beach is very close and there are countless trails.

A typical day
My focus is to foster a calm environment for all dogs in my care. I spend a lot of time outside with my own dogs. In the warmer months we're typically outside from 6AM to 7PM. The quiet, fully fenced 3/4 acre yard is endless hours of fun for sniffing, exploring or just lounging. For more active dogs we can walk 1x daily depending on the weather. In between all of this there are options for enrichment games and toys to keep everyone happy.

- I am open to any dog small, medium or large in size. All dogs must be fully vaccinated including kennel cough. Exceptions can absolutely be made for dogs that are on a special, vet approved vaccination protocol. Flea, tick and heartworm meds are also highly reccomended due to the rural setting. I have small dogs in my home and sometimes I have other boarding clients so your dog must be social and comfortable with other dogs. A meet and greet in advance of your first booking is mandatory to ensure that your dog is a good fit for the calm and quiet environment that I offer all the dogs in my care.
