Pet care experience

Hi there! I'm a longtime pet-lover. My cat Lucy adopted me in 2002, and since 2010 I've volunteered on two cat teams with the Seattle Animal Shelter. In recent years I've grown more interested in and informed about dogs, but Lucy is scared of them and won't let me have my own. So I love playing with everyone elses! Since I don't work a 9-5 job, I'm available to sit for you 7 DAYS A WEEK. I like to meet you and your dog(s) at your home before I start sitting them to get acquainted. While you're gone, I'll send regular photos and updates, unless you don't want me to. I happen to have Asperger's Syndrome (mild autism), which seems to give me an edge in communicating with our furry friends. At my old building, there were 3 dogs on my floor, and even when their owners were on the balcony with them, all 3 dogs would gather around me. :) I'm excited to meet you and your pet! I've been dog sitting for more than a year. I'm good at winning their trust and being patient with them. Most of them take to me quickly. :) Why I love dog sitting We had a basset hound Sam until I was 6. He wasn't the smartest pooch, but very nice and loyal. Then we went a long time without pets, thinking I was allergic to them. For a while, I was exclusively a cat person, and in 2002 I adopted a cat who doesn't like dogs and has to be an only pet. She's still with me at 15. But in the interim, I've come to love dogs and want one of my own. I love interacting with other peoples' dogs on the street or at the park. I think I have a gift for communicating with them. I love spending time with dogs while my cat precludes me from getting my own. My experience administering medication This may vary with the dog and how the medication is administered. I've had to give my cat medicine on multiple occasions. Let's discuss it.

Cannot recommend more highly Jon for your pet sitting needs. He has been watching our two dogs, a mini dachshund and a weimaraner, for over two years now. He has been a great source of comfort when we travel, knowing that the dogs are well attended to and receiving great care. The pups enjoy snuggling with him and feel completely comfortable and safe around him. You won't need to worry at all while your pets are in Jon's care.

Jon did an amazing job of connecting with both of our Irish wolfhounds. He did a perfect job of feeding the girls with their needs and schedule. The house looked as though we had only went to the theater instead of Mexico for a week. Thanks again Jon for a wonderful job!

Jon was very responsive before and during his stay with our dog. He contacted us to let us know he was running late on the day he arrived, and texted with questions and updates as they came up.

Information Jon M. would like to know about your pet

I've cared for chihuahuas, border collies, poodles, St. Bernards, mastiffs, labradors, and more. I'm open to all breeds, though I have been called a terrierist. ;) What I like to know about your dog includes any fears or preferences, food amount and schedule, favorite walking routes, how they get along with other animals and people, favorite toys or treats, any health issues, and whatever YOU think I should know. I want to take the best care of your pet(s) and give them all the love I can.

A typical day

Time I'll spend with your dog What I generally do is spend about 18 hours a day at your home with your pet(s), and go home for about 6 hours during the day to care for my cat. But I'm flexible and happy to customize this based on what you and your pets need. Extra house-sitting services Gladly! Just leave me instructions, and I'll do it.
