Pet care experience

Nurturing, Fun-loving, Responsible

Owned cats for over 35 and dogs for over 25 years. Have administered medication as well as brought sick/injured back to health. Familiar with various diet needs/restrictions. A lover of all breeds, I bond quickly with all animals (including the timid or mistrusting), due to my love for and patience with them. Will take time to play, walk and hang with them. Experience with crating, potty training and teething, and other behavioral training. I recently went back to college to complete my BA and now job hunting, so my availability is wide open. I am flexible and having my own three dogs, get up early and am used to letting them out early morning/late night. I can get to your home as early as 6 am and make my final visit as late as 9 pm. I can provide care in the owners or my home, as well as take them for walks (if owner agrees) and/or play in their home and yard with them. I will love on and treat your babies as I would my own. I do not believe in just feeding and letting out without also providing affection and play time, unless the owner strictly requests I do.

One of our dogs is especially skittish, and Jodie does great with her. He truly loves dogs and gives them all the love and care they deserve. I don’t worry about my fur babies when Jodie is there.

Drop-In Visits • sept. 11, 2023

Can’t say enough about how awesome Jodie was. This was our first time getting a pet sitter, and we were very concerned because one of our dogs is very skittish and barks at every new person. Jodie took the time to meet our dogs beforehand so that they would feel comfortable. Jodie was so very patient and made sure that our “problem child” was well taken care of. Would definitely use Jodie again - she was just fantastic!!!!

Jodie was wonderful with my 15 week old puppy and pleasingly flexible when our Thanksgiving plans shifted our original schedule. Such a relief to have her!

Jodie is a true dog lover. Our Kenzie is very skiddish and I’ve never seen anyone win Kenzie over as fast as Jodie did. That speaks volumes for Jodie’s love and patience with animals. She knew I was worried about Kenzie, so she sent me pictures and regular updates. We will definitely look to Jodie for our future needs. She’s terrific and a rare find.

Schedule

My schedule is currently open. I am also working for an events venue part time. Connecting with and caring for animals is a pleasure for me and how I choose to spend a lot of my free time.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a large fenced in yard for running and playing and three large crates and a small one, for those that feel they need that safe space. I also have a 15 x 15 pen outside if I need to keep any separate from each other. I also have four baby gates so I can rotate the room they are in without having to crate those that want to roam but don't get along with others well. I have cautiously and patiently introduced many animals to each other and also know that just like people, some get along with certain animals but not others.

Pets

A typical day

I can walk the dogs in their neighborhood or play in their yard with them. I will ask at our meet and greet if there is anything they don't allow the dog to play with or chew on. If they set up walks also, I can take them to the park or a dog park. I will throw their toy, ball or frisbee, play tug with ropes and scratch them/comb their fur.

I enjoy all breeds! I would like to know how they might handle my entering their home without the owner there in the beginning. Any allergies, health regimens, concerns or habits. Do they have an invisible or visible fence and how well they walk on leash or handle encounters with other dogs. Do other animals come in their yard often and how do they respond. The more I know about their routine the better job I can do for the owner and their pet. I think that also allows for the animal to feel more comfortable with me more quickly..
