Pet care experience
Caring Dog Lover (WFH)
I’ve had dogs in my life since childhood and have spent many years helping care for dogs belonging to friends and family. Over the last 10+ years I’ve regularly helped with walking, feeding, company and general care, and I genuinely love being around animals. I work from home part of the week, which means I can offer dogs plenty of attention, companionship and regular walks throughout the day. I understand how important trust and reliability are when leaving your pet with someone, and I always aim to provide a calm, caring and safe environment where dogs feel comfortable and well looked after. I’m happy to follow your dog’s usual routine closely and can provide regular updates and photos for peace of mind while you’re away.

Gemma has been minding our Pomeranian x Frenchie cross, Luna, many times over the past six years, usually for a week or two at a time. Whenever she's with Gemma, she's always so happy, she runs straight to her when she sees her. When we even mention Gemma's coming, Luna bolts round the house looking for her. We joke that Gemma's her dogmother, because she's basically next in line after us to look after her. Last Christmas we even got sent a video of Luna with her own Christmas dinner and a plate at the table, that's how much Gemma treats her like her own. I can't imagine trusting anyone else to look after her for that long while we're away on holiday. She's the kindest, most caring, gentle person, and animals flock to her. We all know animals know the good ones. Luna loves her. Your animal will be in safe hands with her.
Gemma was absolutely amazing with Trine, my guide dog, and I could not recommend her highly enough. From the very beginning, she understood how important it was to follow all the correct rules and routines for a working guide dog. I always felt completely confident that Trine was safe, happy and being properly cared for while she was with Gemma. Whenever Trine came home, there were never any unwanted changes in her behaviour or training. This meant so much to me, as it showed that Gemma had respected her boundaries, followed my instructions carefully and treated her with genuine kindness and affection. Choosing someone to look after your guide dog requires a huge amount of trust, and I am extremely happy that I chose Gemma. She is reliable, caring and an absolutely wonderful person. I would confidently recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their dog.
Gemma is the best dog sitter/walker! She looked after my dog Cooper a number of times (sadly now over the rainbow bridge) and he was an older, bigger dog (ridgeback/English bull terrier cross) who could be a little nervous but she handled him so well and with so much love. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Gemma as she truly loves animals and is a lovely person as well. 10/10.
Gemma is brilliant at looking after our family Dog Dave, Dave gets so excited when Gemma comes over. She is incredibly caring & patient with him, & takes him on lovely long walks which he loves.
I can’t recommend Gemma highly enough as a pet sitter and dog walker. She is a true animal lover, and it shows in the way she cares for every pet she meets. I have three dogs, Rubix, Peanut and Winnie and they absolutely adore her. Whenever they see Gemma, they run over to her full of excitement, wagging tails and licks. I joke that they’d replace me with her in a heartbeat. But as a dog owner, there’s no better endorsement than seeing how much your pets genuinely love and trust someone else. Gemma has also looked after my two cats, and I have always felt completely confident leaving them in her care. She is kind, reliable, patient and attentive, treating all my floofs as if they were her own. If you’re looking for someone who will give your pets lots of love, attention and excellent care while you’re away, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Gemma. Any dog or cat would be lucky to have her looking after them.
Gemma looked after my Evie, a 7kg cavapoo when I had shifts at the hospital and did not want to leave little floof on her own too long. They bonded straight away - Evie would be excited as soon as we pulled up outside Gemma’s house and they had lovely walks and sofa snuggles together. Gemma adored Evie so much I never worried as I knew she was just as precious to someone else as she is to me! Would absolutely recommend Gemma if you want your dog to be adored, cuddled, played with and pampered! Evie was an anxious dog at the time and Gemma was super patient with her!

Schedule
I work a hybrid schedule, spending 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home each week. My work-from-home days are flexible rather than fixed, which allows me to be accommodating where possible. I work Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, and can also offer some evening and weekend availability with advance notice. While I don’t have a garden, I live in a spacious and comfortable flat in Hove, just a 5-minute walk from Hove Lawns and the beach. This means your pet will still enjoy plenty of fresh air, exercise and lovely walks in a relaxed seaside setting. I always aim to provide a calm, caring and comfortable environment where pets feel safe and well looked after.
