Dog Trainer+PhD Wildlife Biologist
I'm eager to take your dog out for some fun and enriching exercise while peacefully training them to calmly follow along at your side with no pulling, whining, or reacting! And when they're ready, (usually <3 walks), I'll take them on packwalks with new friends, hikes in the Sandias and Bosque, and real world exposure trips! I am a dog trainer, field biologist, and academic coach driven to lead people towards a mutually fulfilling life with their dogs, and to share my knowledge and wonder of nature to promote stewardship and love for all sentient beings. I have cared for family pets (cats, dogs, fish, rodents, rabbits, birds etc) throughout my life, and I have performed extensive animal husbandry during my PhD in Animal Behavior and Ecology (I have even trained and rehabbed hummingbirds!). I began formally dog walking and training in January 2025 and have helped each of my clients transform their relationships with their dogs by learning how to efficiently and peacefully communicate. I hope to: 1) refresh your dog's basic obedience, floppy leash walking, and social skills; 2) help you be aware of your dog's body language, and your own habits; and 3) empower you to become the leader your dog needs! I am happy to offer free nail checks and trimming! 1% of all proceeds will go to Blackhat Humane Society, a Navajo Nation rescue/ foster organization where I adopted my service dog Louie from!

Ratings and reviews
Erich has a special gift with dogs. He is clear, calm, and great at explaining how we can best work with our dog to maximize his happiness. Highly recommend Erich

Erich is great! He is kind and considerate about your home and is supper attentive and a gives a great after visit summary with photos!

My pup and I are new to the city. I work night shift and know No one. From the moment our meet and greet started I knew that Erich was going to be my favorite dog walker. In a matter of minutes, My shy and timid 8.5yo girl came alive around him. She gets excited when he walks through the door and willingly goes for her walks with him. His professionalism and knowledge in dog training really shines through and has my pup engaged. I’m lucky I’ve been able to find such a reliable, flexible, and easy to communicate person. I will 100% be a repeat customer while here.
Erich was extraordinary 👍 he went out of his way to make sure our dogs were happy. I would recommend him to anybody.

Erich is beyond awesome for my German shepherd dog!

Erich is a great walker/trainer. My dog, Dobby, continues to improve in his obedience and is learning quickly. Highly recommend Erich!

A typical day
My service dog Louie and I wake up around sunrise and immediately go for a quick walk to relieve himself. Then we have a play and train session that last 30mins to 2 hours. Then we head our clients' homes for private training and/or walking sessions all day, doing public access training in between sessions. After work we head to the park for some play, run errands for more public access training, or hit the trails for a hike. When we get back home, we do a calm training session that often includes lots of sniffing and retrieval work.
