Emily can care for
Availability
I’m a full time remote worker. However, there is lot of flexibility for walks, drop ins, and snack time during the day. With notice, I can always adjust my schedule for what’s needed (e.g., longer morning walks, mid day play time).

Safety, trust & environment
I like to prioritize following a pets schedule and working within their environment. The more comfortable they are, the easier they are to care for. Usually, that means maintaining their meal and treat schedule, following their usual walking routes, sniffing their favorite tree, saying hello to their neighborhood friends or avoiding their enemies. While I am doing home stays, I don’t have the capacity to do more than drop ins. I never mix pets if I am taking care of more than one at a time. When I’m home, I don’t usually board pets in my apartment. However, my complex has a small private dog park and the neighborhood has a much larger one available. If necessary for your pets experience, I do have a car.

A typical day
I have a small, private dog park at my apartment complex. There is also plenty of residential space to take leashed walks. Whatever they need to get burn their energy.

Pet care experience
I’ve privately taken care of pets for 4 years for friends and family. This varies from drop-ins and homestays (1 week-3 months). I am very new to Rover, which explains the lack of reviews. I am based in Alexandria, Virginia and typically work between home, Annapolis, and Florida. Unfortunately that means I’m not a great candidate for a permanent or consistent role. When traveling, my offerings on Rover are limited to walks and drop ins, to not double dip. I don’t have any pets of my own as I travel too much and my apartment is so small. I work from home and my work schedule is often flexible, so don’t hesitate to ask for what you need. I will ask you if your schedule is strict or if I can adjust it if a work meeting pops up. I often travel while working (even to short- or long-term stay in fabulous houses with pups/cats). Taking care of pets, even in my own city, is a fun way to mix up my schedule or routine. I can’t sit still and working in my apartment makes me crazy. I have experience with small dogs - large dogs (e.g., English Shepherd) and all with various energy levels. The largest pup I consistently care for loves a 3 mile walk at 7am, rain or snow. I’m comfortable walking a medium- and a large-sized dog at the same time. I prefer a pre-meeting with pups if we’re not able to do a hand-off with you present. I am also open to a FaceTime to learn any quicks or instructions about your pet. I currently don’t care for any pets that you wouldn’t describe as friendly or open to strangers, or have anxieties about leashing/harnessing. I have an excellent frisbee arm and love taking silly pet photos. A million bonus points if you have a ferret or recommend someone with one.

Reviews

Emily was amazing! She took the time to meet my dogs beforehand, which made me feel so much more comfortable. During her visit, she followed all instructions perfectly, made sure they went outside, and gave them their snacks before leaving. She also sent updates and pictures, which I really appreciated! My dogs clearly liked her, which means everything to me (they’re my babies!). I’ll definitely be reaching out to her again!!

Emily is a magic touch cat whisperer! Our older cat, Socks, sleeps a lot but was purring with Emily from day one until we returned. We got great updates and photos, and came home to a happy, well-fed cat. She even noticed he was often in the same position on the cat tree every visit and handled it with extra attention and love. Total peace of mind! Book Emily without hesitation!

Emily was great! She was a prompt communicator and went above and beyond for our animals. We would recommend her to anyone!
Emily was beyond amazing with my pets! She is attentive, asks questions, and spends lots of quality time with the pets. I have a dog and a cat and the dog can be quite difficult at times, but Emily handled him like a charm. The cat loved her too. I’ve used Emily many times and would happily recommend her to others.
