I work for myself and from home, so my schedule is very flexible. That means I can easily adapt to your pet’s needs—whether it’s regular walks, drop-in visits, or overnight care. I’ll always make time to give your pet the attention and consistency they deserve.

Every animal is unique, and I take the time to understand their individual needs, energy, and comfort level. I’ll meet your dog or cat where they’re at—whether that means extra space, extra snuggles, or gentle structure—with clear, compassionate boundaries to keep them safe and happy. If your pet is staying with me, they’ll be treated like one of my own. I live in a calm, pet-friendly apartment near Santa Barbara City College, with plenty of walkable paths and green spaces nearby. I love getting outside and take dogs on multiple long walks throughout the day. If your dog is social and has solid recall, I can bring them to local off-leash areas for supervised play and exploration. I have one small dog of my own—Pepper, a 3.5-year-old mixed breed who’s very friendly and well-socialized. I also have two young stepsons who are with us 50% of the time, so dogs staying in our home must be kid-friendly. The good news? Your dog will get plenty of love and attention from four caring humans. I’ve trained two of my own dogs from puppyhood and am confident managing a range of behaviors—from leash training to crate routines and basic obedience. I’m also comfortable administering medications and caring for senior pets or those with special needs. For cat care, I’m especially attuned to their unique rhythms and boundaries, and I provide calm, consistent care whether I’m visiting your home or caring for them during a stay. Whether I’m boarding, walking, or house sitting, your pet will be safe, respected, and genuinely cared for—just like family.

Informationen, die Ellen A. gerne über dein Haustier wissen möchte
I want your pet to feel safe, loved, and well cared for—so the more I know ahead of time, the better! Please let me know about your pet’s daily routines, energy level, medical needs, and any quirks or triggers (e.g., leash reactivity, separation anxiety, or sensitivity to certain noises or other animals). If your pet has special dietary restrictions, needs medication, or follows a training protocol, I’m happy to accommodate—it just helps to be prepared in advance. For boarding, since I have a friendly small dog (Pepper) and two part-time stepkids, it’s important that visiting dogs are comfortable around other dogs and children. I also like to know how your pet does when left alone briefly, how they travel, and whether they’re crate trained or prefer a specific sleep setup. The more you share, the more I can tailor their care to feel like home.

A typical day with me includes a thoughtful balance of activity, companionship, and comfort—tailored to your pet’s unique personality and needs. I start and end each day with long walks with my dog, Pepper, and I love bringing other pups along for exercise, sniffing, and stimulation. If your dog is high-energy, we’ll get plenty of movement through beach walks, neighborhood strolls, or trail adventures around Santa Barbara. On weekends, we often spend time as a family—me, my partner, our two stepsons, and Pepper—at the beach, where dogs can play, run, and unwind. For senior dogs or pets who need a gentler pace, I provide a calm, quiet environment with shorter, slower walks and plenty of cozy rest time. I’m always attentive to their mobility and comfort and happy to help with medication or special routines. Indoor cats are equally loved and included in my day. I’m experienced in reading feline behavior and making sure they feel safe and respected. Whether they prefer interactive play or quiet companionship, I’ll keep their routines consistent and their environment peaceful. Evenings always wind down with pets curled up beside me on the couch as I knit or watch a show. I’m home and available for pet care most of the day, so your pet will be surrounded by warmth, attention, and calm energy—never overstimulated or left alone for long. Whether your pet is active, aging, shy, or social, they’ll be cared for like family.

Erfahrung in der Haustierbetreuung
I’ve cared for animals my whole life—dogs, cats, and especially puppies. I’ve personally trained two puppies from scratch, so I’m comfortable with the patience and consistency it takes to support a dog through their early years. I have a deep, intuitive connection with animals and often find I understand their energy and needs even better than people’s. I work for myself from home here in Santa Barbara, which means I have plenty of flexibility to give pets the time, attention, and companionship they deserve. Whether it's daily walks, belly rubs, or just a calm, safe space, I approach every animal with genuine care and a tender heart. I’m also very active, so long walks and outdoor time are a highlight for both me and the dogs I care for.

Ellen was amazing! my little dog needed medication administered and some special attention and Ellen handled it no problem. We highly recommend her and will have our little dog stay with her next time we leave!
Ellie Alleman is The sweetest person I know. Not only doe she love dog's (like her little one Pepper) - she also has the perfect calm and relaxing temperament for them. I have known Ellie to be highly respectful of all people, dogs and spaces she interacts with, and I would absolutely trust her with taking care of my home and pets. She will be a huge asset for anyone who is lucky enough to hire her!
Ellen has often walked and cared for my golden retriever, Mowgli. Mowgli is always excited to spend time with Ellen, which makes it obvious that Ellen is a true dog lover. You will be happy you chose Ellen to care for your pup.
Ellie is amazing with our dog! She is incredibly caring and attentive, and you can tell she truly loves animals. Our dog is always so happy to see Ellie!
