Pet care is fully integrated into my daily routine. I’m self-employed, which gives me the flexibility to structure my days around the needs of the dogs in my care rather than fitting them into fixed blocks of time. My own dog is with me throughout the day, so caring for dogs is a constant, natural part of my rhythm. Because of this flexibility, I’m able to provide regular attention, timely walks, enrichment, rest breaks, and any special care a dog may need, whether that’s extra activity, medication, or a slower pace for seniors. I plan my schedule to ensure dogs are never rushed or left waiting and always receive consistent, attentive care.

About Dave L.
Safety, trust & environment
Safety, trust, and comfort are always my top priorities. In my home, dogs have access to a spacious, fully enclosed ½-acre backyard with an 8-foot privacy fence, providing plenty of room to move, explore, and relax safely. Dogs have access to the yard through a dog door, allowing them to go in and out freely throughout the day based on their comfort level and routine. I use multiple baby gates and an external kennel to thoughtfully manage space and interactions. This allows me to separate dogs when needed, provide quiet time, or give individual dogs privacy and decompression breaks—always with my close attention and supervision. I can offer private space both indoors and outdoors, ensuring each dog has a calm, secure place to relax based on their comfort level and needs. I’m very attentive to group dynamics and individual personalities, adjusting supervision and space to ensure every dog feels safe, respected, and comfortable—whether they thrive on companionship or prefer a calmer, more structured environment.

Information Dave L. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know ahead of time if your pet has any special needs, medical conditions, allergies, feeding routines, anxiety triggers, leash habits, or behaviors I should account for. I also like to know how they do with other dogs, new people, crates, car rides, toys, treats, and being left alone for short periods. I focus more on temperament and needs than breed. My preference is for dogs who are comfortable in a home environment, friendly or manageable around other dogs, and able to safely enjoy supervised play, walks, backyard time, or quiet companionship based on their personality.
A typical day
A typical day with the pets I watch is built around their personality, energy level, routine, and comfort. I love giving dogs a good mix of physical activity, mental stimulation, and relaxed downtime so they feel safe, happy, and cared for while their people are away. For active pups, we may start with playtime, fetch, toy time, or exploring the fully fenced yard with lots of fresh smells, bird watching, and squirrel patrol. Depending on the dog’s needs and the owner’s preferences, we may also head out for a neighborhood walk, a nearby park adventure, or an easy nature walk. Some dogs love covering ground, while others prefer a slower sniff-filled stroll, and I’m happy to match their pace. After activity, there is always time for water, rest, and plenty of affection. Senior dogs get extra patience, gentle attention, and quiet companionship. Younger dogs can enjoy toys, supervised play, and safe backyard time throughout the day. My goal is for every pet to feel like they are part of the household: cared for, included, entertained, and loved.

Pet care experience
I’ve spent over 20 years caring for dogs of all ages, temperaments, and energy levels, and what truly sets me apart is that animals aren’t just part of my schedule—they’re part of my life. I’m self-employed, which means I have the flexibility to be fully present and attentive, and my own dog goes just about everywhere with me. Dogs are woven into my daily rhythm, not squeezed into it. I’m especially skilled at reading canine body language and meeting dogs where they are emotionally and physically. I have extensive experience with off-leash dogs and understand how to manage freedom safely through awareness, trust, and clear communication. I’m also very comfortable caring for senior dogs—moving at their pace, watching for subtle changes, and providing calm, steady support. Whether a dog is high-energy and adventurous or older and more reserved, I focus on building trust, respecting individual needs, and creating a calm, confident environment where they feel safe and understood.
Reviews
Dave has watched my two dogs, Leeroy and Tug, many, many times now as i travel often for work, and I honestly can’t recommend him enough. I know my dogs are going to be loved on, taken care of and very likely spoiled, but they love it and i never have to worry. Both dogs absolutely love going over there, they get along great with his dogs, and I always know they’re in good hands. The biggest endorsement I can give is that they literally never want to leave. Every time I pick them up, they’re happy, tired, and clearly had a great time. Dave is someone I completely trust with them, and it’s a huge relief knowing I don’t have to worry when they’re staying with him. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about dogs and will treat yours like part of the family, Dave is your guy. Leeroy and Tug would probably move in permanently if I let them.
