Our animals love her, no issues there. My issue is with communication, follow-through, & dependability. We planned on a 4 day trip & I had her scheduled to start at 9-10am (our elderly dog takes heart mefication, so imperative to stay on schedule). I messaged her around 9:45 reminding her that the dogs had not eaten & that she would need to do that. Maybe I should have been more direct. She did not show up until nearly 12noon. When i saw the alerts from our doorbell cam, i commented that it was really unacceptable due to the medication situation - but also I paid for her to be there at a specific time & she wasnt. She told me that something came up for her. I get that things happen, unforseen events. But if there was no mention of that until after the fact tells me, 1) I dont know if it's a line of bologna or 2) she had no forsight to let me know that she wasnt going to be able to be there on time. I could've made temporary arrangements for a friend to stop by and feed the pups & give meds. She apologized & that was that. Until the last day of our 4 day trip. She contacted me early in the AM, to say that her main job called her in. She told them that she couldnt come in until after 9am so that she could feed the dogs - which I whole heartedly appreciate. My issue is, why was the answer even yes? I get that people who are sitters have other jobs, but not when you've already committed to a job - caring for my pets! Anyway, we arrived home late & it was roughly 10hrs since she had left that morning - she offered to & did come over after work around 4pm to let the dogs out, which was much appreciated for the situation as it was. But the cats were nowhere to be seen when we got back. We checked closets, bathrooms, and then the the guest bedroom. Both had been trapped in there (without a litter box) all day - so you can imagine what we walked in to. This is not the first time she has petsitted for us, so she is aware that there needs to be a headcount before closing doors bc cats/dogs may slip in unannounced. And honestly the final thing, the key exchange. She told me that she would come by the next day to drop off the key, So, the next day at 7:45pm, I texted her seeing if she was still planning on coming- she apologized and told me that she completely forgot. Of all the things this holds the least weight, but was just the cherry on top of the crap pile. I did not write a review on our last visit with her because i got the same "something came up, im so sorry" excuse when she didnt show on time. Maybe this is a shame on me situation for giving her another shot because I believed her, but here we are. She is a very nice person, but it seems like she has a LOT going on and that prevents her from being a dependable sitter. We will not be using her again & I wouldn't recommend for more than and overnight situation.
