Pet care experience

Reactive dogs welcome!

Through fostering shelter dogs, I have much experience with reactive dogs, fearful dogs, senior dogs and dogs still in training. Any behavior, I can manage! I only care for pets of the same family at the same time. I live in a large, ground level apartment. My area is quiet with space away from strangers and other dogs. My roommate is a pet caregiver as well.

Safety, trust & environment

Reactivity to dogs/humans, jumping, anxiety, and fear - I know how to keep your pet comfortable! I have experience with every type of personality when it comes to dogs. Just inform me of noteworthy behavior and I will manage it accordingly. I can reinforce training, as requested. For sittings in your home: Notes on cameras and your responsibilities. Cameras: While I understand the desire to keep on eye on your pet while away, I prefer no cameras inside the home as their presence would have me “on the clock” 24/7 and limit my privacy. If having cameras inside is a need, I would require all to be disclosed and the ability for me to unplug them during non-working hours. We can discuss your desires, but usually I unplug them when I am in your home and plug them in if I need to leave the home. Outdoor cameras, including doorbell cameras, are okay, just be sure to disclose. Your responsibilities: While I will maintain the safest environment possible while caring for your pet, being in your home means it is your responsibility to remove and/or indicate anything that could harm your pet. Some examples include: food, cleaning products, garbage, choking hazards (including certain dog toys), sharp objects, medications, and weapons. If you have any weapons, be sure to review Rover’s specific policy regarding them. Dogs act differently without their owner so it is better to be safe and over-protect and over-inform.

Connor took very good care of our pup and our home when we were traveling. He communicated well and we felt comfortable that Zissel was in capable hands. Would definitely have back again.

Thanks to Connor‘s flexibility. I was able to attend to work conference and know that my dogs would be taken care of while I was away during the day

Connor was a phenomenal house sitter for our small zoo of 3! He took excellent care of our dog and 2 cats while we were away on a long vacation sending us pictures every day and keeping us updated on feedings, walks, etc. Highly recommend Connor to take care of our four legged friends, they will be in great hands!

NIGHTMARE SITUATION AVOID If you have anxious dogs. Made sure camera was off per his “policy”. Did not follow any of requested schedule until I checked up on him with Ring sensors on third night of international trip. Left multiple issues at apartment was not in state it was left in. It’s a great experience to be on an international trip panicking about what else he’s not doing if he lied and was this deceitful. Requested last call around 7 pm that translated apparently to I’ll let them out at midnight because that’s what I feel like. Then on the flip side they go out at 6 or 6:30 am translated to whenever I wake up so around 11. Came back to huge mess in bathroom had to throw out water damaged rug and mop up huge puddle. Slept in my bed when this wasn’t discussed. Mattress was pulled away from wall rechanging sheets so I wouldn’t know because there was a “small hole” in air mattress left. Left dirty towel on my bed. Yeah planned on fixing bathroom and washing my sheets immediately off an international flight. Lied and gaslight me after stay was over and I asked about bathroom issues. Seemed like he messed up something slightly in each room which felt very intrusive. Dogs and apartment are fine overall but eye opening situation when you think you’re booking best of best and paying more for that while you’re gone internationally for a week.

I felt absolutely secure leaving my dog in Connor’s care. My pup is terrified of thunderstorms, and unfortunately there were a bunch while I was out of town, and Connor really went above and beyond to make sure she was as comfortable as possible. Definitely appreciated his expertise and care in taking care of her!

For everyone: Please let me know about any noteworthy behaviors (anxiety, fear, reactivity, prey drive), allergies, and how your dog handles different weather (rain, snow, hot days). I require Rabies and DHPP vaccinations for all dogs in my care. For overnights: Share details about medications, sleeping arrangements, feeding/walking schedules, and what to do if your dog is left alone. I require that dogs be on a flea prevention, and I highly recommend Heartworm prevention as well as vaccinations for Bordetella, Leptospirosis, and Canine Influenza. I cannot board dogs with communicable illnesses, but I’m happy to care for dogs managing non-communicable conditions (with clear instructions from you).
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
