Pet care experience

Self-employed writer, pooch lover

I began doing this to make ends meet during the Recession. As it turns out, I love doing it. I don't have any animals myself, so staying long-term isn't a problem. Big dogs, little dogs—I have fun with them all. I am a writer and don't have a day job, so I am there in the daytime for your pets. (Just need Internet.) I meet with clients here and there, but never gone for long periods of time. One thing: if you're looking for a sitter for a weekend stay and it's more than 4 weeks away, please pass me by. I don't like tying up my schedule that far in advance, thank you for understanding.

By the most important measure, the sitting was a success: our cat was alive and seemingly not much the worse for wear when we returned home. Other elements could be improved: updates were terse and short on detail; a number of messes were missed or unremarked - I’ve cleaned up ten puddles of dried urine, and expect to find more.

Chris took great care of our 2 dogs and was very patient with our younger dog who is a rescue. Our other dog usually goes on hunger strike when we leave and he didn’t miss a meal with Chris. Thanks again!

Appreciate Chris’ willingness to care for two dogs and a cat relatively last minute. He checked in daily and was prompt responding to questions. Came home to tired kids which is always a good thing!

Chris was amazing! He stepped in last minute to care for our dogs over the holiday weekend and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. He was timely, professional, and kept us updated. Our dogs also had to get through the Fourth of July fireworks and Chris took great care of them during all the noise, making sure they were comfortable and well looked after. We came home to two happy pups and would absolutely book with him again. Highly recommend Chris to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!

Schedule

I work for myself, so when I am staying with in a client's home, their cats and dogs (and other animals of course!) are my priority.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
Chris can host up to 1 pet per night
The main thing I like to know about a dog beforehand is their energy levels. Active, not active, etc. It's all fine and dandy, I just like to have an idea. A 2 year old dog is different to care for than a 12 year old dog. Also, if there are medications, that is good, absolutely. Though those types of clients are the ones who are usually upfront with me about it all. But in terms of breeds, absolutely not, I like all breeds and have cared for all breeds/sizes/ages.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
